Noha Hassan-Smith creates interiors that are both modernist and warm, and her spaces range from clean-lined minimalist to ethnic modern. Highly influenced by her global travels, her approach to design emphasizes versatility and draws on the requirements of each client to develop a look that reflects location, lifestyle, and personality. Always, be it for a first time homebuyer or a media celebrity, the emphasis is on a finished space that is coherent, beautiful, and livable. Born in Egypt, Noha lived in Jeddah, Luxembourg, Brussels, and London before settling in New York City. Having studied business and economics in both Cairo and Brussels, she spent eight years in the finance industry, working at Goldman Sachs and JP Morgan in London. Her passion for aesthetic and creative projects led her to marketing and branding positions for the Estee Lauder Group, a path that eventually took her to New York. It was here that Noha found her calling for interior design, when she first renovated her own home. This space continues to serve as a showcase and design laboratory. Noha likes to utilize design elements that are both artistic and functional. Quality and attention to detail unify each room, and she excels at juxtaposing cutting-edge, out-of-the-ordinary materials with modern classics. Noha’s projects usually include patterns and textures that give modernist design softness and approachability. In every detail she seeks to marry style and comfort. Noha focuses on full scope interior design projects to complete gut renovations. Noha is an incredibly talented and wonderful designer! I worked with her on a 1-bedroom apartment on the Lower East Side in NYC. She helped me create a sanctuary, tailored to my personal needs and modern industrial vision. My apartment is gorgeous! Everyone who comes over to visit is immediately obsessed with my apartment and wants to ask me endless questions about the design, the furnishings, the wall paper, the decor, the technology, and the lighting. Noha is extremely professional, reliable, organized, attentive, and meticulous. She approaches her work and her clients with patience and equanimity. Renovation and design work can be stressful, but Noha always remains calm and solution-oriented through every challenge along the way. Noha has incredible taste - she creates a work of art with each home she designs. Noha is flexible in mixing items across the budget spectrum, finding a range of stunning and bespoke pieces, to more affordable high quality items. She also has an amazing eye for artists, and helped me find the perfect piece of art for my living room. Noha also has an incredible team of people who work with her directly, as well as 3rd parties including electricians, AV specialists, and contractors. Everyone she brings into her projects are extremely talented and professional. I loved working with Noha and I am so grateful for my beautiful and peaceful home.

Working with Noha on the design of our four-bedroom apartment was an incredibly fabulous experience. She is a true connoisseur of all things haute-culture, and that definitely comes across in her designs. From start to finish, the unique pieces she picked, art selection and wall treatments all came together as a perfectly harmonious ensemble. My guests are always breath-taken by the elegance of our home. Going into this, my primary concern was that our space would feel too staged and not as comfortable to live in. However, she has transformed it into an enjoyable, modern and cozy sanctuary. I cannot recommend her enough and will definitely have her design all my future personal & professional spaces.

My husband and I selected Noha to be our designer for a gut renovation of our three-bedroom apartment on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, but she was so much more. She transformed our apartment into an elegant and modern space, but managed to keep it very comfortable, serene and zen-like, much like an upscale boutique hotel. Her taste is exquisite and she has the ability to combine the best, highest quality European furniture with local hand-made artisan cabinetry and also more affordable accessories/fixtures when necessary to keep within budget. What is most striking about Noha is how she truly possesses all the greatest traits of a designer -- expertise, intelligence, flexibility, creativity and reliability. She has a keen sense of space and is detail-oriented. She is calm, organized and easy to work with. She has been an integral part of our entire construction process, working closely and often even overseeing our team of general contractors and architects. She often went above and beyond her role by expediting and clarifying matters with the numerous bumps and delays that inevitably arose in the complicated process of such an extensive renovation project. We are thrilled with the incredible transformation she has created for our family. We worked with Noha to design and furnish a recently restored condo in Soho, NY. She was incredibly professional and detailed in how we communicated and worked together throughout the process. She listened to our needs and wants for the condo and then translated that into designs that maintained the feel of a Soho loft while also incorporating our desired modern elements. She custom designed a unique wooden slat wall to soften the space as one example of her work. Aside from all the furnishings, she also handled custom closets, lighting and Audio/visual components (invisible speakers in all the ceilings). Since this was a second home, everything had to be picked out and purchased new. I can honestly say we could not be happier with how it all turned out and I would highly recommend Noha.

I absolutely love Noha. I'm so appreciative of her making my plain vanilla cookie cutter condo into a real home that I love and one that reflects my style. She helped me create something that I thought only came in magazines. Not only does Noha have an amazing design aesthetic, but it's her work ethic, professionalism and customer service that really set her apart. She is extremely detail-oriented and always on top of deadlines and budgets. There are so many wonderful things to say about Noha, I don't even know where to start. I am a retailer of luxury Italian furniture and have worked with many designers during my tenure here. I met Noha when I first started with the company and she has been lovely to work with. Her eye for design and professionalism is truly what sets her apart from other designers. She knows a lot about the industry and has an extensive knowledge of various brands and their offerings. She works very closely with her clients and listens to all their needs and desires. From my standpoint, Noha has been a pleasure to work with. She comes in with an idea in mind and we work together to turn it into a reality. Her creativity fuels her motivation and she will go above and beyond. Her firm has purchased through us for small local projects all the way to large scale projects abroad. I found Noha on houzz when I was looking for an interior designer for our apt in the city. I had previously reached out to other designers and didn't work out because they either charge too high of a commission or they only take on projects that need structural change in the apartment. I liked the pictures of Noha's previous projects and her flat fee structure. After showing Noha our apt and our style preference, she was able to deliver a mood board which prompted our decision to hire her. She had great resources in terms of AV, window and wall paper professionals she regularly uses and she interviewed contractors with us as well. She also introduced a number of furniture brands and created shopping trips for us on weekend. One caveat is that designers usually don't work on weekends and we made the point to have Noha agree prior to signed the agreement that she would work with us on a few weekends given both of us work full time. Noha also did project and budget management for us and kept a very clean spreadsheet to track progress and budget. Overall, she was a big help with our renovation and we are very happy with the end result. The apt was photographed a few months after and Noha got it published at a magazine.

Noha did an amazing job with my one bedroom apartment. She spent a lot of time understanding my style throughout the process, working within my budget constraints, and really researching and finding unique pieces that made my apartment come to life. And she was really patient when I kept changing directions -- which happened several times. Most of all, Noha really brought some creativity in to the process -- both in terms of how get the most out of the space and also in the kinds of furniture and accent pieces that would really work. As one of her earliest customers, I can say with confidence that my wife (then girlfriend) and I still enjoy the work she has done many years later.

Smart and creative, with an exceptional eye, Noha oversaw and executed a complete gut renovation of my apartment....all rooms, bathroom and kitchen included. I brought her in after I'd committed to a terrible contractor and she was able to successfully work through enormous challenges with skill, confidence and grace.
