“Shelly is my go-to girl when it comes to installing my murals. She is efficient, knowledgeable, and fun to work with. She has helped me with numerous installations including putting up a large mural on a wall 20 feet in the air on an electric lift in a school gym as well as a three part mural on a cathedral barrel vault ceiling 22 feet in the air; all without blinking an eye. And she's the only certified paper hanger in Carroll County MD.”

“We hIred Harold to paint the entire interior of our house, 13 rooms including bathrooms. His crew was professional, competent, cleaned up every day. They were very conscientious to ensure we were completely satisfied, even when some of the work proved more difficult than anticipated in the contract. Would definitely use them again .”

“I have worked with Jim Lackford to complete multiple home renovation and repair jobs and I highly recommend him. First, he’s easy to work with and is a good communicator. He’s trustworthy and more reliable than your best neighbor: When I had water in my basement over a weekend, he came over the very same day to remove the flooring. I don’t know any contractor who would turn on a dime like that to help in an emergency! Jim is extremely knowledgeable and skilled in everything “home.” He did painting and wallpapering for me, he patched holes in my ceiling, he laid tile in my laundry area, hung a mirror, installed a mosaic tile backsplash, and so on. He always did the work with skill and care. He also has access to skilled workers who can support him when the job requires it.”

Ashley Spencer, the president, was who I worked with. She was professional, direct, prompt, accurate in her assessment and didn't try to "over-sell." “Teri L. Did a great job helping us pull together a color pallet for repainting our entire house. She listened to our ideas and explained the pros and cons of the colors for each room from the ceiling to the baseboard helping us reach a well coordinared pallette. She was patient and didn't rush through our appointment. In the end, we are very satisfied with the colors and receive compliments all the time.”

“Divecha Assoc. painted tyhe exterior of my (small) house. It's older and needed a great deal of prep before priming. There were two colors of trim in addition to the main body color. They were fast, on time, and meticulous. Dave gave me a very reasonable estimate and stuck to it. They did the work when scheduled, and his crew cleaned up the flaked off debris well, painted details carefully, and left not a drip on my decking, roof, or steps. I was thrilled with these guys. They are a rare breed--a contractor I will happily hire again.”

“The speedheater and scrapers I purchased get a lot of use. The first time we tried it out we couldn't believe it was true- It really got the paint off! I don't think it's the most efficient way to remove paint from wide flat surfaces or pieces that I can remove and have dipped in a lye tank, but It is great for removing paint from surfaces with profiles or small details (think: window sashes). The scrapers they sell are great, but also necessary. On really old paint, we brush on some linseed oil and leave it for a while before using the heater on it. This helps a lot. There are a few downfalls: (1) The bulbs break easily- in fairness, my speedheater gets a lot of use, and does get dropped occasionally, and so the bulbs do break. (2) It's not "super magic", it does still take a lot of patience to remove the paint, and having to hold the machine in a vertical position (not working on sawhorses) can become tiresome. (3) I know the company says it's safe, but the smell that comes with speedheating the paint doesn't seem like something I want to be breathing, so I wear a respirator. But don't let these little things distract you. Removing paint is never easy or fun, so while this tool is not flawless, it is a necessary tool in the arsenal of anyone trying to remove old paint.”
