“Albena Vatcheva is a Bulgarian educated Architect turned Painter living in Sotteville-Les-Rouen, France. I was introduced to Albena in 2004 by a mutual friend who thought I would like the work she was producing. I was immediately impressed with what I saw and have since acquired ten of her paintings. I see the iconic background of heritage evident throughout her presentations. In this I refer to the traditional influences of Persia and India that continues to persuade the style. And even France now, that has become her dominate place for living, I see begin to creep into the themes. Albena is a colorist using color to increase tension, play with the space or to influence the observer’s eye throughout the exercise. The work is symbolic, sensual, sometimes whimsical as life and filled with the mystic magic of love and loveliness. It is masterfully executed to be passionate and impressive from the hand of a passionate painter skilled in her craft. Each composition is articulately delineated to express the vibrant nature or the calm serenity of the situation portrayed. The eye is bent throughout the creation to see behind, around, into and past the reality until one wants to also be the emotion of the moment and the next and an integral part of the whole bound in the application of the paint with line and form.
