“We lost our beloved home in a fire a year ago and are in the process of rebuilding with a custom builder. Before the fire, the first thing that you saw when you walked through our doors were the canvases of our 3 kids that Tamara had done for us. Upstairs, there was a huge gallery wall filled with more of Tamara's portraits that spanned half the length of the whole floor. Everything about that house reflected who we are and what's important to us as a family. The idea of starting from scratch in a sterile new build lacking history or character was deeply saddening for our family, and we had a very difficult time getting over our loss and imagining how on earth we could ever have a house that felt like home again. Luckily, we met a great architect who listened to our needs and made sure that the new house was, quite literally, built around adequate wall space for us to hang more of Tamara's portraits. Starting from scratch leaves one the unique opportunity to decide what matters most to them, process what loss was the hardest felt, and weigh what things were the most valuable and sorely missed. It gives you perspective and gratitude. I can say without hesitation that both the experience of shooting with Tamara and the end result of quality canvases on display are things I both treasured and appreciated, and ones that I do not hesitate to have again. None of us are comfortable in front of the camera, and we certainly made Tamara work for those shots though she didn't let on that we were at all as impossible as I'm sure we were. She is both professional and laid back, charming and focused. Nothing about our pictures taken with Tamara are ever posed or artificial. With Tamara behind the camera, we all manage to let our guards down and be ourselves, almost forgetting that she's even there sometimes. I'll be booking with Tamara again soon, and can't wait to have her custom portraits make our new house into a home again.”
