William Bowley Projects

William Bowley began their second project for us in January 2023. This involved a complete internal renovation of our house. We handed them the house over and rented for 9 months in the local area. Working with both Nick’s has been a pleasure. Nick Turner project manages very hands on and rarely is not on site managing the various trades all of which are a well-oiled and loyal team of contractors. The project included complete property underfloor heating, new electricity, bathrooms, kitchen and re configuration of both floors to the house. The house was stripped back completely and remade internally. The project was well budgeted and although that budgeted increased that was almost always due to us pushing the specification up from our initial requirements i.e. we upgraded our kitchen and bathroom choices. Nick is very particular on finishing and quality of work, and we have been left with our dream home (delivered a week early). Having had friends have quite bad experiences locally with building contractors we feel very lucky to have found William Bowley and would not hesitate to recommend them.

Finding someone to fully refurbish our house with good communication skills and a high level of trust was very important to us as we were abroad for quite a few months of the refurbishment. We were extremely lucky to find Nick Turner at William Bowley as his enthusiasm for our project matched our vision and made the process much easier than expected. Nick helped us navigate a number of challenges with the property, making sensible recommendations, solving any issues that arose in a timely manner and always kept us up to date with progress and developments by phone and video calls as necessary. Always on hand to answer our many questions, Nick and his team were highly professional producing us a beautiful home with a lot of care and attention to detail. Redeveloping our property required changing just about everything. We were fortunate to find William Bowley. William Bowley competed against two large local contractors for the extensive refurbishment of our 70s town house by the beach. We were immediately impressed by their enthusiasm and understanding of our vision for the property. Running this project remotely, it was important to us to have builders we could trust and who would be collaborative on creative decisions as the build progressed. We were thankful to be able to tap into Nick’s knowledge of local trades for sourcing everything from flooring and kitchens to introducing us to Justin who built our amazing watersports room. It was a pleasure to work with Nick T throughout this project. He was professional at all times and his attention to detail was invaluable as problems, inevitably, arose. Buying a property in such a state of disrepair was somewhat of a leap of faith for us as we do not live in the area and are not particularly experienced in property refurbishment. We were very lucky to come across Nick and Nick from William Bowley. They are both very approachable and we always felt the project was in capable hands. They are very professional and always come up with good suggestions. The teams they employ are top quality and we are very happy with the end result and the standard of finish. William Bowley have been extremely professional throughout the who process of our 16 week complete renovation of our annex. They started with some speculative work on behalf of our architects who needed some information under the existing floor and went onto tender for the work. Nick Turner was appointed our project manager and he has been a complete pleasure to work , always keeping an eye on controlling the clients cost but at the same time extremely detailed only accepting the best standards from his supply chain all of whom are clearly people he has worked with on many occasions. The project has come in 3% above the original quote but we added much more to the specification as we went on and Nick found savings as we moved forwarded resulting in only a 3% rise in the original quote. We got a lot more for almost the value of the tendered spec ( i.e. Bifold patio doors, up graded radiators, windows and more). Communication is key and Nick was available any day to talk and chat through ideas or where decisions were needed by us. I don't think there are many building projects where the client honestly will say that we will miss the team as they are great people who embraced we were creating a wonderful annex for my 90 year old parents and have done everything within their power to do this. Nick and Nick were great at the project management, there were always trades on site cracking on and the project went well from the start. They kept us in the loop with unforseen issues and these were dealt with in a very pragmatic way. We are really pleased with the quality of the work and the result plus they kept to the budget they quoted.

We would not hesitate to recommend William Bowley. What was meant to be a quick and easy extension and new kitchen turned into a 6 month slog which kept throwing up problems. However these were all faced with a calm professionalism which kept us going through the stressful times. From the very first meeting we had with Nick (we dealt with both Nicks) we felt reassured that our home was in good hands. They always kept us up to date with what was happening, and how much things would cost, and were incredibly patient with all our questions and indecisions. We stayed in our home during the renovations and all of the tradesmen were polite and friendly, and our home was always kept as clean and dust free as possible. We are hoping that they will come back to do more work on our house next year, as they did such an amazing job this time round.

We would have no hesitation in recommending William Bowley & have been delighted with their services. The whole process from initial consultations, support to the quality of their work and that of their subcontractors was very professional and to a high standard with no surprises on cost. From our first meeting with ‘the Nicks’ we were immediately struck with their enthusiasm and insight into our project. We were impressed with the time and dedication they showed in producing a very well laid out and costed specification based on our initial plan. They are very particular paying careful attention to detail and have built up an excellent team of skilled contractors who all worked to an extremely high standard. They managed to work around us, whilst we continued living in the property, ensuring that we had basic services available at all times - much appreciated in the winter months. During the build Nick Turner was onsite to supervise, and otherwise, was quick to respond to email and texts and kept us informed of any delay or snags. Nick Crick (Customisation King) proposed practical solutions to any problems that arose and they were both particular in leaving the site immaculate at the end of the project. They proved flexible and always listened to our requirements producing a superb end result.
