Our experience with Skydell Contracting for our partial kitchen renovation was excellent… Absolutely top-notch! We needed a new sink, lower cabinets and countertop in our original 1953 kitchen, which had been custom-built and included features like unique, irreplaceable wall tiling that we wanted to retain and protect. There was no pressure to increase the scope of our project, and the Skydell team was totally understanding and accommodating of our needs. We met with Devon a few times to discuss and design the job, both at our home and in the Skydell office. She explained everything in detail and patiently answered our many questions, helping us to get the most out of our budget and offering insightful suggestions. One thing we were concerned about was the effect a lengthy renovation project might have on our senior rescue dog, Jacques, but Skydell was on top of that, too! Our project manager, Brian, was an absolute gift… He listened to all our concerns and answered all our questions at our pre-construction meeting, and worked to ensure the fewest number of people would be in the house at any given time to reduce the stress on Jacques (and us, too!). He always made sure we knew who would be coming to the house and when, kept us apprised of any changes or developments, and worked with us whenever we needed to take our furry friend out, feed him, etc. Brian was even so thoughtful as to ask if Jacques would be upset by certain sounds, like a loud nail gun, so that we could take him outside or to another area of the house if needed. We could not have asked for a better project manager! Brian did a lot of the work himself, especially the rather delicate removal of our original bottom cabinets while protecting the original tile work. He came up with some creative solutions for our small mid-century kitchen space. Since we had decided we wanted to keep our original upper cabinets, we opted to have them refinished, and Skydell’s painter, Adrian, did an absolutely gorgeous job. The cabinets look brand-new! Overall, the entire project was done on schedule, the work is excellent quality, and we are very, very happy! We found Skydell Contracting when we were planning a major kitchen renovation that included removing a weight-bearing wall. We could not have been happier with the service we received. The kitchen renovation came out great!!!! This project was over 10 years ago and the workmanship has held up. Because we had such a great experience, we used Skydell for renovating our two full baths. We are very happy with the results for both. We can recommend Skydell contracting without any reservations.

We hired Skydell for a complete bathroom remodel and are EXTREMELY happy with the results. After meeting with a few contractors, when we met with Skydell and Devon, we knew right away that we wanted to work with them. Devon worked with us to design a bathroom that was modern, elegant and functional, yet still within our budget. She was very patient and knowledgeable as we worked through all the design decisions. Our project manager Fabio was easy to work with and kept us well informed. The various sub contractors were all courteous, professional and did quality work. We will not hesitate to use the again and recommend them to friends.

Skydell remodeled my master bathroom. They listened and responded to my needs. Very well organized. Once work began, they communicated on a daily basis. Everything turned out well. They were a bit more expensive than I had anticipated, but quality costs more.

A few years ago, Skydell brought our bathroom out of the dark ages. My wife and I were so elated by that project that we decided to trust them to do the same with our similar era kitchen. Richard Skydell went beyond just a kitchen remodel by developing a plan to open up the kitchen, dining room and living room into one grand area. We are extremely pleased by the results. We used to make excuses when having guests over. Now we want people to see our home. I can't say enough good things about Richard Skydell who designer the project, Henry, the project manager who overwatched the operation, Jim, the carpenter and Kathryn, the logistics manager.

We wanted to add a bathroom and utility area to our first floor, and update our elderly kitchen. RIch Skydell arrived punctually for our initial discussion, answered our questions thoughtfully and with candor, and provided a couple of initial scenarios for achieving our goals. We were impressed with his knowledge and willingness to listen and wound up working thru a number of possible solutions for some construction challenges. He and his team fielded each step professionally and responded quickly to our ideas through this planning process, and provided us with a final scheme that met all our hopes for the new areas. Despite the COVID restrictions and other challenges which popped up from time to time in the demolition and constrution phases, their communications were top notch and prompt, the work was performed thoroughly and with attention to detail, and with courtesy and respect -- we worked through a number of problems to our satsifaction and the end was result was a wonderful, functional attractive new kitchen and back entry room, and a much needed lovely new first floor bathroom and utility area that transformed a former unused porch into a useful space. We would recommend them highly for any home remodeling project!!

We couldn’t be more pleased with our master bathroom remodel. Richard was invaluable during the initial layout design as well as the selection of fixtures, vanity, tile and hardware. Henry managed the project and was in constant communication regarding the scheduling of subcontractors and inspections. And all subcontractors used delivered top-notch results.

Skydell did a kitchen remodel into an open floor plan with the family room. Rich was fantastic, and he hires the best contractors. They all came in and cleaned up after themselves at the end of the day, whether they were coming back the next day or not. They tried to leave it in as good of shape as they found it. They would lay down tarps and try to make sure not to disturb anything if they could. They were all very nice and courteous. Rich helped pick out the backsplash tile personally, which was very helpful. He also listened to what I wanted and worked as much with it as he could. There was another contractor that we had bid on it that was going to put a pole in the middle of the open floor plan to support the ceiling. Rich just put in a support beam, and you can barely tell it's there. Plus, the other contractor was going to close off the kitchen stairs in a split level house, which Skydell wanted to do as well. Rich worked with us and figured something else out to give us plenty of space whilst keeping the stairs. We're so happy with it. Everyone that has seen the before and after are so impressed. It is great to have people over and be able to seat them all and still talk to everyone. Then to have the space to have them in the kitchen is fantastic.

We had a second floor renovation done involving a re-do and expansion of a bathroom and combining what had been two smaller bedrooms into what is now one larger bedroom. Richard was very helpful in the design and planning stages and Henry, the project manager, saw to it that the plan was executed properly. Both were easy to work with and attentive to what we wanted to accomplish. Communication was excellent. We are very pleased with how everything turned out.

Skydell Contracting completely remodeled 3 bathrooms for me. From start to finish, they were a highly professional team and extremely easy to work with. After looking over the site, Richard helped me navigate the design process, which would have been impossible for me on my own. He talked me through the choices to make in a structured way with enough options at each step so that I was happy with the outcome. Henry, the project manager, reviewed the entire agreed-upon scope of work before the start to make sure that we had the same understanding of what was to happen. He organized the work of all of the needed sub-contractors in a smooth way, and always checked in to make sure that they had done a quality job. I always understood what was happening next. There were no headaches for me to deal with at all. The end result is just lovely. I would recommend Skydell to anyone considering this type of remodeling project.

Skydell Contracting did a great job with our large remodel project. The initial design was thoughtful and creative. The job included a full remodel of a kitchen and 3 bathrooms…plus lots of other work in the rest of the place. The final result was amazing…does not look like the same place!!! They were great to work with…very pleasant and professional. I would definitely recommend them.

We used Skydell Contracting to renovate our guest bathroom. From start to finish Richard and his team of skilled professionals were a pleasure to work with. We started and finished on time, the project manager was highly organized, kept us up to date daily; each worker arrived on schedule and was very professional. I am giving 5 star review even though I never actually got to work work with Skydell. And it is because of my experience with Dave Schoen. I had been recommended by Adam at Northeast Power Dry to call Dave at Skydell when there was a major catastrophic flooding situation at my parents home. My parents who live in Northern Bergen County NJ are both elderly and one is suffering from Alzheimers so the situation was actually dire. Dave drove up to my parents house making sure to be there when the Homeowners insurance claims adjuster was there and proceeded to walk through the damage and go over what needed to be done with the claims adjuster - ensuring that the work would be completely covered. He also gave fantastic suggestions for replacement materials. Unfortunately we could not work together because of circumstance but I would 100% recommend Skydell and Dave in particular for any home contracing projects.

Fantastic! Dave Schoen is a complete perfectionist (as are we) and ensured everything was to our satisfaction every step of the way. He went above & beyond, going out of his way during a very stressful time for us. He even provided samples of suggestions to make our home not only restored, but gave me ideas (within the allocated budget) to bring our recently renovated home back to a level which was/is BETTER than its original beauty. Progress reports were provided constantly along the way & he explained any and all delays or complications with the repairs. Additionally, we are very familiar with contractors in & out of our home during our restoration/renovation last year. Skydell's crew was prompt, professional, respectful of our property, cleaned up as they went along & the most POLITE team I've ever come across! Would strongly recommend using them - We were so pleased to have a "one stop shop" experience enabling us to have a one person "go to" with any and all questions. Isn't that what homeowners really desire? No stress? Faith in honesty? Hands down - no need to look further!

We loved working with Skydell Contracting. Right from the first consultation for our kitchen we knew it would be a good fit. Richard was so genuine and kind and gave us a great design. I recently had a kitchen renovation after a leak from an upstairs bathroom. The professionals at Skydell came in and created a brand new kitchen in my 100 year old house. David, project manager had to put up with my 3:00 am texts and he was responsive, patient and helpful. I had several personal issues going on at the same time during this renovation and the team was caring and respectful. They also put together a beautiful kitchen, on time and within budget!! We had our Kitchen renovated by Skydell about 3 years ago. They did a wonderful job and we are still very happy with the result. Recently, I accidentally broke one of the cabinet hinge brackets (cargo shorts looped around the knob and really yanked it as I walked by). I called Kathryn at Skydell and on that same day, Henry came over to assess the damage and came back the very next day to fix it, for FREE. Top notch customer service and response ! Even after completing a renovation a number of years ago, Skydell was quick to respond and repair a broken drawer in our bathroom. They went out of their way to get the part and fix it quickly. Great customer service.

My husband and I recently renovated our family room with new windows, hardwood floor and a stone fireplace. Working with Skydell Contracting, Inc. was a pleasure from our first meeting to the finished product. Richard met with us personally and helped us make some great design decisions all the while being attentive to our own design preferences. He also followed up with an in home meeting halfway through the renovation. His workers were on time, respectful of our home, and our time. A pleasure to work with. We hired Skydell Contracting to finish our basement last summer and this was one of the best decision we've made when it comes to improving our home. I hired Skydell to renovate my bathroom and to install recessed lighting. A few years later I hired Skydell to repair my sliding glass door. Both occasions, Skydell Contracting, was very professional and excellent.

We selected Skydell Contracting to renovate two bathrooms simultaneously, and we could not be happier with our choice. Our house is about 60 years old and I don’t think the bathrooms had ever been updated. The results Skydell produced were fantastic and better than we could have hoped for; we now have the best bathrooms of any house we’ve ever lived in. We didn’t have any good ideas for what the end result should look like as we’ve never renovated any of our houses before. Richard was very patient with all our questions, made great suggestions, and really helped with his mock-ups of what the finished space could look like. He walked us through the whole process and made it easier than we imagined. This was the first time that I had done a major remodeling project. I bought in three Contractors for estimates, and I chose Skydell Contracting, Inc. This was one of the best decisions that I have ever made. The owner of the company, Richard Skydell is clearly "THE" expert in the field of remodeling. He takes you through the process step by step, and goes over all of the cost savings options with you. They have a great office and show room, with many choices of cabinets, flooring, hardware, etc. The Skydell staff was extremely helpful throughout the process. It was very clear the entire team has had extensive training, not only in remodeling, but even more important, "Customer Service". The communication lines with Richard, and the team was impeccable. My new kitchen, and family room is spectacular! Henry was my on-site project manager. He ensured the quality of work, and ever detail of the project was met, but in most cases, it was EXCEEDED! I can honestly tell my family or friends, that may be looking to remodel, not to waste their time bringing in other contractors to interview. Just go with Skydell. Richard Skydell, his staff, and all of the onsite craftsmen are REAL PROS!!!

We undertook a gut renovation of our entire first floor, including kitchen, living room, and dining room, as well as structural work in the basement. After gathering several bids we chose Skydell despite them not being the lowest bid. What won us over was the honesty in which they discussed their bid and what would be necessary to complete the job. Throughout the project they were extremely responsive and forthcoming even through the inevitable surprises that are found during renovations, which, in our case, included asbestos removal. Skydell also worked around our schedule so we could do some of the finish work ourselves. Finally, we can’t recommend enough the work that our PM, Henry, did on the project. He went above and beyond to answer our questions and complete the job, sometimes on his own time.

We hired Skydell to replace the stairs leading to our basement. They were on time, completed the project as promised, and even cleaned up after themselves! Our banister has an outlet on it, and the before the project it was broken from the previous owners. When they replaced our stairs, they even replaced the outlet at no charge and no fuss. Highly recommend!

I hired Skydell contracting to do a master bath renovation in August 2017 for me. Overall, they were extremely professional and I would use them again. OK, their prices are not cheap, but you get what you pay for. I did get a few other quotes, and while the costs were pretty similar (only a few thousand dollars difference) I primarily chose Skydell because during the early contact phase Richard Skydell, the President of the Company, was very responsive and kept in touch timely with me. Other contractors did not.....and I would be left wondering if they even got my text or email for days. This is not a good sign if you are about to spend a ton of money with someone and need good communication throughout a project. So, all in all the project went well but of course took a bit longer than expected. I had a few snafoos during my project too (wrong tile floor was ordered, a sub-contractor who did my shower niche did a sloppy job with marble chair rail tile surround) but Skydell stepped up to the plate and handled it. Of course, the shower niche was fixed perfectly and I was not billed for it....and the right floor tiles were ordered and addressed. I also got a follow-up call from them a month or so after the project was finished to see how things were going and if I needed any touch-ups. They are in the process of fixing some grout cracks, a few bathtub nicks, and moving a towel bar that I want repositioned. Also want to mention that their team of project managers in the field are great. I had to go on a business trip overseas during my project, and was able to stay in touch via text and get photos sent to me to see how things were going. Thanks Henry for getting me through this project, and fixing my garage door ! :-) If you need any contracting work done, and you want a professional, trustworthy, well done job I would call on Skydell. PS - My bathroom is gorgeous and it is EXACTLY what I wanted!

Skydell Contracting had done a project last summer to screen in my back porch. The screens came dislodged from the frame over the winter of last year. After much nagging, Skydell came and fixed them for the summer season but I was promised multiple times that they would come up with a plan to restructure the screen mounting so that this winter I would not have the same problem. I was willing to pay for the fixing of this project even though I have paid a pretty penny to have it done in the first place, but still no word. A project manager from Skydell finally texted me back over the summer and said someone was working on an estimate but I never heard from him again. I again reached out to him on September 1 letting him know winter was coming and that I haven't heard from him but he never respond. They had always been terrible at communicating with me since this problem first surfaced last fall but that is a bit ridiculous. At this point I don't even want to work with Skydell to fix my porch because their professionalism is greatly lacking. I lost my husband suddenly last fall and reached out asking for them to please fix this so I would have one less thing to worry about as a mom with 3 small kids at home. You would think they would at least be a bit more communicative considering my current situation. But that was certainly not the case.

I have been working with Richard and Skydell Contracting for a year. Everyone on his team is professional, friendly, and supportive. Richard efficiently determines his clients’ needs for kitchen and bath ideas in a timely manner. His clients are left satisfied, and it is a pleasure working alongside him from the showroom.

We have worked with Skydell Contracting a number of times. For this particular project, we are so happy we had them involved. What seemed like a simple porch upgrade turned out to be something much more when it was discovered that the structure had not been properly installed by the previous owners. The crew at Skydell worked with us to develop a reasonable and fair solution. They worked hard to stay on the (reworked) timeline and every person from the company was professional and easy to work with. We love our new porch and the security of knowing that the roof/ceiling are strong, the floor is properly sloped and that a reliable company is behind the work.

My kitchen/family room/powder room renovation took about 6 months to complete. Richard was very easy to work with and very responsive to all of my concerns. I was comfortable with all of the contractors. They made every effort to work efficiently and to keep the site as clean as possible. There were a couple of unexpected glitches, but they were handled quickly and professionally. It was the first time I did such a large project and it could easily have become overwhelming. Richard kept the project on track. All of the contractors made me feel that my satisfaction was as important to them as it was to me. The project managers and the staff at Skydell were always professional. When issues did arise, the owner Richard Skydell was immediately there to ascertain the problem and was quick to offer options. We had some of our own ideas that were always welcomed. We would certainly recommend these folks who can handle everything for your home. The bathroom involved total demolition of the existing bath, new insulation and walls. New plumbing, water closet, installation of carrera stone work, electrical and all woodwork. We are very happy with the outcome.
