Chris Merenda-Axtell is an interior designer who has worked in California, Nevada, Colorado and Hawaii for more than 29 years. After earning a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Interior Design from Sacramento State University, Chris began her career merchandising model homes in both California and Nevada for Building Developers. Owned and operated the home accessory store, The Farmers Daughter, in Lyon Village. Chris takes pride in finding a balance between the clients style and the integrity of the house. She enjoys creating renovated or newly constructed spaces. Award winning Best of Houzz 2014, 2015, 2016 ,2017,2018, 2019 and 2021

Chris Merenda-Axtell has been helping us design the interior our home for over a decade. She has a keen eye for the creation of beautiful new spaces, as well as enhancement or improvement to existing spaces. She has introduced us to new ideas to create a clean, modern design, helped us purchase the right furniture and other items for the space, assist with rearrangement of existing furniture to create a new look, and is generally a joy with whom to work. She listens carefully and ensures she works within your budget, often coming up with alternatives to chosen items which are higher quality and more affordable. We love entertaining in our home and credit Chris for creating such an inviting space.

Chris was so easy to work with but more importantly, she saved us during our construction process. Chris gave recommendations on better layouts of a room, picked out incredible designs for each room, helped work with contractors, gave advice on prices, got the best price for us, was there every step of the way, and over saw so much of the project to help prevent any disasters. Really, without her, it would have taken us longer to finish and triple the cost. She was truly a blessing and a breath of fresh air and an INCREDIBLE designer!!!

We cannot say enough good things about our experience with Chris. She was wonderful to work with and we would have been completely lost without her ! Her ability to deal directly with sub-contractors, her knowledge of construction and attention to detail was awesome. She worked hard to lessen the stress from our home build which took several months to complete. While her creativity and vision for our home was great, she was also considerate of our input all along the way. Lastly, and most importantly to us, Chris is a good person !

I worked with Chris for 4 months on the renovation of my home (Sept-December 2016). A big project. Chris was the best thing that ever happened to me! She instantly knows what to do on everything! I don't think there is a project, big or small, that she couldn't tackle and conquer perfectly. Very impressed with her knowledge and how she thinks. She's practical, stays within budgets, designs with efficiencies in mind and worked with me on kitchen & bathroom design, rugs, carpets, wood flooring, colors, etc. She knows a lot of people in the industry so it was all very easy and everyone I met along the way (appliance, tile, lighting, & designer stores), adores her! I highly recommend Chris for any home design need. She's simply the best!

This is the second time I have hired Chris Merenda-Axtell for remodeling/decorating assistance. The first time went so well, we didn't hesitate to call her back for our biggest project to date ~ Complete Kitchen/Great Room remodel. Chris listened to our needs for the spaces and came up with an amazing plan that we NEVER even thought possible. She has such a great vision for spaces. Fast forward 6 months later and we are all but done. WE ARE IN LOVE WITH THE DESIGN. As soon as the floors are in, I am calling Chris back out to help with the decor. She does an AMAZING job. I would recommend her to anyone for any job (Large AND Small).

We are in the planning stages of our master bedroom/bathroom remodel project, and we've met with Chris twice so far to get her input on the design. She has great ideas and we have incorporated many of her suggestions into our project design. While we are discussing an idea, Chris' architectural and artistic talents give her the ability to draw her concept with such realism that we can envision the new space. Working with Chris has been easy and we are confident that our project will be much better because of her involvement. We are looking forward to future sessions with her as we move on to choosing finishes for the bathroom!

We decided to remodel our kitchen and I became totally overwhelmed. I wasn't sure what hardware, how to pick granite, what is the best edge for granite, great pendant lights and of course tile, appliances and paint. She did it all and very efficiently. Her feel was completely absorbed in all of the purchase discounts I received by using her. I could not have done this project without her and I will post pictures when it is completed. I highly recommend Chris, do not try to tackle a project like this without her. Even if you have a contractor you need a designer.

After 20 years in our home, it was time for an update of the grouted tile counters and floors in the kitchen and bathrooms. Chris is easily reachable by cell phone/text and email and will meet you at stores to select products. We are in our mid-70s and wanted to keep the cost reasonable, for ex. good quality oak cabinets thruout the house would stay. Chris listened to our budget and overall concepts to transition to a more contemporary look.. She made excellent suggestions from LED lights to eliminating un-needed towel bars. Her knowledge of how things are constructed helps avoid mistakes. Chris knows lots of vendors to help bring your project to completion. Demolition of counters and floors start after Christmas. . . . . photos in 2017.

Chris arrived on time and was ready to work as soon as she walked in. She listened to both my husband and I and was able to provide ideas and suggestions that met both of our needs and wants. She was very good with her tape measure and provided sketches of possible furniture layouts. We found this to be extremely helpful in our family room which is the room that needs the most work. She also quickly told us how to rearrange our furniture in the living room and now it looks great. She also provided guidelines on the types and sizes of lamps that are appropriate for our entryway and dinning room. She emailed us photos of lights that might work in those rooms. We found her to be very helpful and won't hesitate to call her in the future if we need more help.

Chris did an outstanding job transforming our dated kitchen into a beautiful dream kitchen plus she provided some designer touches in our family room, living room, and the hall bathroom. She is experienced, friendly, and has an amazing eye for style and details. We were impressed not only by her design ability but also by her level of construction knowledge. The various vendors we met with were very complimentary about how easy she is to work with. Chris is a gifted interior designer and we will hire her again when we remodel our master bathroom.
