Steve, Erica and the entire McKinney crew were a pleasure to work with. From the quoting, to the design and throughout the construction, the work was very professional. We especially appreciated the willingness to work with us as we requested several modifications to the design as the project progressed. Also, the communication was very good. They kept us informed of any delays due to weather or material availability and finished the project within the time frame we expected. We are very pleased with our new garage addition and would definitely use McKinney Home Improvement for any future construction projects.

Steve and his crew did an outstanding job on a very large project!! We had a cover built over a 44 ft 5th wheel camper and a 40 x 16 deck built coming out of the camper. This included not only the cover and deck, but also the electrical supply for a 50 amp camper service, lights, electrical outlets, ceiling fans, plumbing/sewer, moving the primary electrical feed to the dock and installing a new breaker box to accommodate the change in the cover. The quality was excellent, as he and his team kept us informed at every step of the project. Most importantly, he consulted us on a regular basis to ensure the project was meeting our expectations. Steve is a true professional. Excellent, quality work - on time and at budget! He and his crew do the job as if were their own property! I have recommended him to numerous friends. This is the second project he has completed for us, and we have contracted him for a third.

We wanted a screened porch built on a ground level deck Steve’s team wrote the quote and waited for us to decide. We went ahead and proceeded with the work. I really wasn’t sure what I had chosen but not to worry he showed up with the materials and I knew then that I had made the right choice: laminate type beams, 6x6 vs 4x4 he had even considered the pitch of the roof to match our house. It was really done Uber professional and on time My add on’s were very well priced and did not seemed to of gouged I have only had my expectations exceeded two other times in my homeowner history and Steve and his crew are number 1 of these

McKinney Home improvements was recommended to us and we couldn’t be happier. Steve and Erica communicated quickly and worked with our schedule. He went out of his way to make the process of a complete kitchen remodel as convenient as possible. The work quality is perfect. We have heard so many horror stories from other people with other contractors but we are 100% satisfied.

I first learned about Steve McKinney and his excellent work from neighbors who live around the corner from us, and for whom he was working on a kitchen remodel. We ended up hiring McKinney Home Improvement to add a master suite to the ground floor of our house, including a master bedroom, bath, and walk-in closet - a little more than 400 sq. ft. Steve also added a new hot tub deck - about 300 sq. ft. - right outside the new bedroom. Steve got started with our project in March 2021 and finished up the last of the work in November. We are extremely pleased with the excellent work done by Steve and his workmen. Understandably, there were a few hiccups along the way, but Steve always made an effort to provide solutions that would be amenable to us. The quality of work performed by Steve and his guys was always second to none, regardless of what they were working on - whether it was laying bathroom tile, installing a metal roof, painting the rooms inside and out, adding plumbing for a second water heater, building a dog gate on the deck, or putting down hardwood floors, etc. The work was always impeccable. We would have no problem recommending the outstanding work of McKinney Home Improvement to anyone who is contemplating a home addition or other construction.

Our old deck was becoming dilapidated, so we contracted with Steve McKinney to replace it with a larger one, including a gazebo and a ramp so we'd have entrance to our home with no steps. We found him very easy to work with, with timely and clear communication. I work from home, and anytime I looked outside, everyone on his crew was busy. His crew members were friendly, courteous, and respectful, and never left our property in a mess. The quality of their work is outstanding! Steve and his crew are complete professionals. We worked with Steve to redo the entire exterior of our vacation home (roof, siding, doors, and windows) as well as to complete the basement, installing a bedroom, bathroom, and laundry. He did additional plumbing, electrical, and drywall work and installed a new HVAC system. We were able to trust Steve to do the work correctly, which was invaluable to us as we were four hours away. Steve's willingness to see our vision through to the end and offer up his own advice along the way yielded a great result. We will not hesitate to call Steve in the future for other projects.

Steve and his team were all great to work with throughout our project. We started with a completely unfinished basement, and he helped create a den/workout room, a great room, a bedroom, and a full bathroom, complete with electrical, HVAC, drywall, flooring, trim, ceiling fans, stair treads/railing, and recessed lighting. Steve worked with us from the beginning steps of setting a layout to selection of finishing materials. When we had specific ideas or selections, he was very supportive. When we said "we don't know" or "what do you think," he was happy to provide options and help guide toward a decision that we're very happy with. The project was completed during the Covid pandemic and therefore there were some timing setbacks related to material delivery, but Steve communicated well as we moved through the project. We are very happy with the end result and love the fully-finished space that Steve's team helped create. The bathroom is beautiful, and the rest of the space is exactly what we were looking for. Steve McKinney's crew exceeded all of our expectations in terms of professionalism, timeliness and overall quality of work. The team worked regular and consistent hours and finished ahead of schedule. The project was a difficult floor removal and fireplace demo. Several other contractors in the area either declined the job or attempted it with no success. The team replaced the subfloor and hung new drywall in our large bonus room. I do not have pictures, but I believe that Steve took quite a few. Anyone considering hiring him is welcome to review them. We hope that his schedule opens up for our upcoming bathroom renovations!

I have used McKinney Home Improvement on two projects. They got five stars on the first one (major remodel a few years ago). Recently I contacted Steve about reinforcing an existing deck to support a hot tub and running new electrical service. As before, he was prompt and professional. He worked us in to his schedule, started before others even came out to give a quote, and finished on time. He and his crew are all very professional and do a great job. After a more than a year and a half trying to get a new front door and some trim work installed, I was fortunate to have McKinney Home Improvement recommended to me. I wish I had known about Mr. McKinney ages ago! From the minute he arrived to survey the job and make an estimate, it was instantly obvious this gentleman was a complete professional. The job was completed in less time than I expected, it was done at a VERY reasonable cost and was done to perfection! Steve and his terrific crew just finished a new deck for us and we are beyond thrilled. Here's what happened. He came out and gave a detailed quote and time frame for completion. His guys showed up each morning at 8am and worked until at least 5pm, and worked hard while they were on the job. Steve was at the job site each day, sometimes giving direction, sometimes working alongside the guys, but supervising every step. If there was a weather delay, he notified us of their plans. The guys were respectful and seemed to enjoy their job, obviously taking pride in their work. And ...they over delivered the finished product and cleaned up the job site. We can't say enough about how pleased we are with Steve and his crew. We recommend each of them without reservation!

Steve and his crew took our vision of a deck and 3 season porch addition and far exceeded our expectations. Steve’s professionalism started at the initial interview. He reviewed what I wanted done and identified multiple times where the initial builder did not even build to standard. And he wouldn’t do the job if it wasn’t to code or safe. Our home remodeling included replacing an old deck with a room, making a new deck, making a porch handicap accessible and building out the entire basement with full bath, bedroom, kitchen, office and common room. The job is PERFECT. Steve was responsive to my wants and would give options in order to match our budget. We love our new home. I cannot rate McKinney Home Improvement highly enough. I'd like to give them 10 stars. We live in a 125 year old home that needed just the right professional to understand it's complicated needs. We hired Steve's company to update two bathrooms that had major infrastructure problems (freezing pipes, etc.), . . Steve and his wonderful crew were not daunted at all by the challenge, even though it meant taking both bathrooms down to the studs and rebuilding. We now have two beautiful bathrooms with all the problems solved. Steve and crew also added new skylights to a portion of the house that also needed a "fix"...The result is absolutely beautiful. They also did a beautiful new ceiling and crown molding to a bedroom. Not only is this company totally able to do the highest quality of work, they are also a pleasure to work with....The crew is polite, and, although they are "invading" your home, they are very careful to treat your home as if it was theirs....drop cloths every where and an understanding that this is a home that they are guests in.... If you're looking for the best in our area, this is it...I would use them again in a heart beat.

Designed and delivered (on time and on budget) a fully screened-in, very low maintenance three season room. Mr. McKinney worked with us start to finish in planning the room, demolition and removal of the old deck, building the new, enclosed deck, and creating a small retaining wall. The interior space was attractively finished with white vinyl siding and metal post wraps. The new roof was integrated cleverly into the existing structure along with a skylight for an interior room. In addition to being detailed oriented throughout the build, Mr. McKinney was also accommodating of late add-ons including adding multiple electrical drops, provisions for installing audio, video, and additional LED lighting, lower-level lattices, runoff/drainage remediation, etc. Very fair and upfront regarding pricing. His knowledgeable, talented, hard working, & reliable crew began in January, worked through some winter cold snaps, and finished up by mid-March. By April, this has become the most popular room in the house. Recommended.

Steve and his crew worked on a large job for us...basically remodeled the entire exterior of the house. He was right on with the quote. They were just a little over on the timeline, but that was due to the weather more than anything else. Steve delivers a very high quality workmanship on every thing he does. The original build gave him some curve balls to deal with, but he did his best to correct issues so that they were corrected without causing a lot of extra cost. I now feel that I have a deck that is sturdy/proper and well done siding that will be good for years to come.

The results were better than I anticipated, all work was finished professionally, within the agreed contract price and on time. We moved from out of State to Jonesborough, TN and bought a new home. We fell in love with our new home, but was not very happy with the limited space we had in the Kitchen area where you sit down to eat dinner. Not one dissatisfied customer! Now, that's impressive! We decided to place a call, and Steve the owner got back to us the same day. My husband was a little weary about hiring a contractor that we could trust since we were new to the area. Steve made an appointment with us to meet that coming Saturday to talk about what we wanted done. Steve was on time, and was never late in any other meetings we had with him. Steve was the utmost professional working with me (water damage) and an adjoining townhouse where 95% of the work needed to originate on the other property. The other owner, living in a far away state would not communicate with me. Steve handled all the interpersonal difficulties with me, the other owner, her tenant and the city code people. When my husband finally ageed to allow me to have our sagging back deck replaced with a covered one, I knew I'd better find the right contractor. We live in a PUD so we would have to go through an approval process. And more importantly, we know very little about construction and home improvements. I never regretted this decision from the first phone call to completion of the project. The deck and roof are beautiful and sturdy. Cost of the project was in line with our budget projection and we were so impressed with Steve's presentation that we didn't even get a second estimate! We contracted with Steve McKinney to remodel our home. We were impressed with his responses during the bidding process. His estimates were on time, detailed, competitive and gave us confidence he could do the job. Steve effectively managed his crew to keep things on track. Steve worked through several issues with bad bathroom fixtures and we never had to worry about those details. I hired Steve, based on houzz reviews, to renovate my existing brick home. The renovation consisted of wood flooring in living areas, ceramic tile in kitchen and bathroom, replacement of baseboards, remodeling of bathroom, complete interior paint and exterior power wash and trim paint. Compared to similar work I had done by another well rated contractor to a different home in 2013, the price and quality of work was much better. In fact, I would consider Steve and all his workers to be excellent. I am very pleased and would have no reservations to recommend him to friends or family.

I bought a house with a very small, very poorly laid out kitchen, and I knew one of my first priorities would be to transform that room into a place I loved to be in. I hired McKinney Home Improvement based on their Houzz reviews, and I could not be happier. I knew what I wanted to do with the kitchen before I contacted them for a quote, and they were excited to make my ideas a reality. (I have a feeling they'd be just as awesome if you don't have a thorough idea of what you want.) My project involved moving a doorway, putting in a new floor transation between the dining room and kitchen, removing a drop ceiling, restoring half the old ceiling (including a surprise broken joist), replacing (surprise) knob and tube wiring, installing faux tin ceiling tiles and new light fixtures, installing cabinets and a new sink and faucet, putting up subway tile, installing the range hood and open shelving, replacing all the window and door trim to match the rest of the house, installing a recessed cabinet, and hooking up my new range. The only thing they didn't do was the countertops, which I used the countertop fabricator's installer for. Steve and his crew were excellent with regard to communication, they showed up every time they said they would and worked regular & dependable hours. No surprises or challenges ruffled them. They were thorough, with a focus on doing quality work, and they were at all times friendly, helpful, and professional. I've had good experiences with getting work done before, but I've never had ~this~ good an experience. I'm excited to hire them for a few more projects later this spring. I also had my wiring upgraded throughout the house at the same time, and I used their electricians for it. Those guys also provided quality, professional work and were timely and dependable. McKinney Home Improvement took ~so much~ of the stress out of having the house worked on just by keeping the line of communication open and being where they said they'd be when they said they'd be there.

Steve McKinney and his team completed a basement remodel of an existing finished basement. The job consisted of demolition, building out and finishing two additional rooms - an office and bedroom. The job was performed extremely professionally and ahead of schedule. I've never seen such a good command of all aspects of the job, from materials selection, scheduling and quality of workmanship. Several of my family members are tradesmen and after seeing the renovation, commented on the quality of the work. Steve is also a talented electrician and ran a brand new circuit and new lighting fixtures through existing walls with minimal disruptions to the existing finishes. Above all, the team was courteous, on-time and respectful when we wished to make a change to the original plan. I would without hesitation recommend McKinney, and plan to do so when we expand our deck.

Steve and the McKinney Home Improvement Group were true professional from their initial assessment of the problem, following through with estimate, showing up for work on time and prepared to work. They took photos all along the process to ensure everything was easy to understand. They answered all our questions and presented us with options and professional opinions on all our options. They put in a full days work and more. They cleaned up after themselves and most importantly their work looked awesome and better than expected. I have had to really work hard to find a professional group of craftsman because we have had to have many repairs to our house because of the initial builder shortcuts and the repairs form the terrible Hail storm a few years ago. McKinney Home Improvement did a fantastic job on our house when they converted part of our basement into a bedroom and a full bath. They were very professional, creative in design, and skillful. Steve, Corby, and Dave did an excellent job in our master bath. They are professional, efficient, and dependable. They were able to transform our ugly bathroom into a work of art despite the many obstacles involved in an old home. They were able to improve on function, flow and design. My experience with McKinney Home Improvement was wonderful. The team brought skill, knowledge and experience to a total gut and remodel of a 1940s kitchen and full bathroom, all the while dealing with a homeowner recovering from major surgery and on site 24/7, very difficult pets, including newborn kittens underfoot, and delays from vendors. From structural issues to aesthetic ones they were open to communication and offered good counsel and suggestions, were extremely timely on a day-to-day basis, and completed the two-phase project within a very reasonable time of the initial projection. The costs were kept very close to the original written estimate, and any variance was explained in detail, and approval sought, before undertaking any changes. I am planning to renovate a family room and dining room in 2015, and will, should scheduling permit, happily use McKinney Home Improvement for the new project.

We live in an aging house where just about everything needs a little help. They replaced carpets with hardwood in two bedrooms which looks so amazing I wonder why we didn't do it 10 years ago. They replaced all the doors in our home and replaced trim work in multiple rooms. They made upgrades in all of our bathrooms. We have used their services in the past and were very pleased with the results. We are very very satisfied with their work and the price. Wonderful quality work. Very personable and accommodating.

Steve has done five projects for us, from a new outdoor deck, to remodeling work involving a linen closet and repairing over four items in our home. All the work was done on time, at a reasonable cost and was done to perfection. We recommend Steve highly for his work and professionalism.

Mr. McKinney was hired by the seller of a china hutch I purchased that ended up having a faulty closing mechanism on one of the doors. Another "professional" had been hired before Mr. McKinney and he had actually left the problem worse than it was to start with in addition to causing damage to another door catcher. I was heartbroken but the seller assured me it could be fixed. I was dubious. I am pleased to report that Mr. McKinney is kind, courteous and does excellent work. He repaired everything and now my doors close perfectly. He took his time and studied every little detail before committing to the repair. I was most pleased to see that Mr. McKinney is a perfectionist, something you don't see very often anymore. I won't hesitate to hire his company for future projects.

I hired Steve to install a new metal roof on our house, the job was completed in a professional and timely fashion. During the construction phase Steve and his partner endured adverse weather conditions, but still arrived on the job site ready to go. All in all if you want someone that you can trust and expect the contractors to return your calls and show up when they say, Steve McKinney Home Improvement is the ones too call.

I had a leak that appeared on my wall in the stairwell of my three story hm. After a few much higher quotes I chose Mckinney Home Improvement. He was the lowest quote plus ha had done another job for me a year earlier that was done very professionally. He had to tear up my stairwell and the drain system outside of my house where a pipe has leaking. I am sure that he did not know the extent of work that he was going to have to do but he not only did it all but when I told him that the stairs always squeaked loudly on the way down, he also fixed that at the price we had agreed to. This guy was just great! He was honest to his own detriment, he was nice to be around (as he was in the house many days), nice to our pets and most importantly, his work was flawless. When I first met him before my last job he said that he was a "perfectionist" and that proved to be the case. All of that and a very fair price! I highly recommend McKinney Home Improvement. TS

We recently bought an older home and my husband and I are doing a lot of the work ourselves; however we hired Steve to complete the drywall work in our kitchen, living room, family room and one of the bathrooms. He did a great job, was easy to work with and was very reasonably priced. We will definitely hire him again and we highly recommend him. He was friendly, honest, professional, timely and clean.

I have had this contractor complete 6 projects and have been extremely satisfied with the quality of work and professionalism. This contractor's honesty fares well with me because I like each project done right. He always lets me know what he will be doing each day. I especially like the fact that if he runs into any problems due to previous poor quality workmanship, he will tell me and then correct it. He gives each project the time it needs instead of rushing and cutting corners to meet a deadline. At this point, he is the only contractor I will have at my home.
