SMA Exteriors & Restoration

This is NOT your contractor. Save yourself a lot of grief, money, and time. SMA Exteriors, without a doubt, provided us the worst experience we’ve had with any contractor/vendor. To add some depth to this statement, wife is a realtor in new construction, and I am an attorney. We’ve dealt with our fair-share of contractors and contractual issues. SMA was hired to replace our roof and gutters; the entire process was a nightmare. I’ll try and keep this short… Dylan (the owner’s son) was our sales representative. In a nutshell, Dylan delicately (and awkwardly) avoided questions pertaining to gutter repairs during the initial sales meeting, he overpromised on expectations of time and workmanship, and on one occasion, arguably, tried to swindle us into paying more than what was already covered by the insurance proceeds. The extra funds Dylan requested, on top of the insurance proceeds SMA agreed to, was of course for SMA to complete our gutter work—the questions avoided in the initial sales meeting. Beware if you need gutter work done, SMA initially only presents you with a “roofing contract,” claiming it is all covered. In our case, our gutters were ripped off by the roofers and we didn’t have gutters for months. Additionally, SMA took over a month to pick-up their extra supplies, which they left in our front yard, and ended up killing the grass where it laid. When we asked, we were told it would be months for the gutter work to get done. No one from SMA would return my emails once I started pressing for the gutter work to be completed. As a matter of fact, I didn’t receive a response until I grew so frustrated that I sent a litigation-styled email from my attorney email address. Oddly enough, I got a response then. SMA’s scheduler claimed they needed more time; mind you several months passed and it was the dead of winter now. Great time to install gutters, when there is snow and ice on the roof. Oh, and, it was only then that I was presented with a “Gutter Contract”—this could have been done at the initial meeting. As I mentioned, I was firm in letting SMA know that the insurance proceeds, which they agreed to, was going to cover the gutter work. I was not paying anything extra. I threatened to leave and adverse online review, and again, only then did I get a response from the owner himself this time, Steve. Steve attempted to resolve the issue with a myriad of excuses and a shell of an apology. He rescheduled my gutter work sooner to avoid the adverse review. Fast forward to this Spring, where we had several water intrusion problems—problems we didn’t have before the new roof installation. I reached out to SMA to let them know about the issue, and their lack of response didn’t surprise me. When SMA did respond they took no ownership for any of the issues, didn’t even come out to inspect as they are statutorily obligated to once put on notice.

very courteous and really knew the finer points of proper installation (based on the many install videos I watched on line of other contractors) didn't cut any corners. They showed up on time! Cleaned up after themselves! Came back and fixed an issue with as much enthusiasm as doing the job in the first place, this was really a big one for me. The value/price for the door and window was nothing short of spectacular! This was a great company to work with!

We had SMA up date the exterior of our house. Woodpeckers had done some damage, so Steve came out, told us about a. product that would get rid of the wood pecker problem. And it did. They replaced the old boards, aluminum souffet and facia, and new gutters. It was then painted and the house looks brand new. They always scheduled their work time, so I knew when they were coming. I will always call SMA when the need arises. Thanks to Steve and his work crews. I would definitely recommend them to friends and relives, or anyone that asked.

We were painting a client's house and discovered they needed their kitchen window replaced. We referred them to SMA Exteriors. Steve and his team did the rest!! The client was extremely pleased and we were still able to finish our project on time!

We were having issues with the dry stack rock on the front of our house (most of the front of the house). SMA walked us through what would be necessary to repair our home. Unfortunately due to poor installation (by a different company) SMA had remove all of the rock. We replaced it with a grouted rock and steel siding. Through the process our salesman was very responsive (including phone calls, emails and texts). The workers were thorough, respectful and cleaned up after themselves. They acted appropriate around my children and ensured they were safe. Our scheduler Laurel was very nice and kept us up to date on the timeline. We would recommend SMA to our friends and family. There bid was competitive to the other estimates we got. We had some hiccups but we were kept informed and everything was resolved to our satisfaction before our final walk through.

New Exteriors was extremely timely and professional. I would recommend having them out to give an honest and complete estimate. I did not use a contractor for this project, I decided to tackle it myself. I have used them in the past and will use them again in the future.

When I bought my house I had SMA Exteriors & Restoration come out and look at my siding and roof with me. Steve was professional and took the time to teach me what I needed to know about the type of siding I had and the condition of my roof was in. We decided I really didn't need to repair anything at this time except for a small piece of siding up near a peak of my roof. He climbed up there and repaired it on the spot! Although it was a minor repair, Steve gained my trust and now SMA Exteriors & Restoration is my go-to company for the exterior of my home. I will be replacing windows soon and plan on calling them back out for the job! I highly recommend! Pam D.

Matt did a fine job of assessing my needs for redoing the garage steps: wider, to accommodate walkers. The railing were well made and finished. I did want the railing hole repaired when it was moved lower down, but that apparently was not in the job description. Still, I would recommend him for his efficient and polite demeanor. SMA replaced all the windows on my house in September. They completed the work on time and I was very impressed with the quality of their crew and the quality of their work. I have already recommended them to two of my neighbors. Would highly recommend!

Steve Arelle, with SMA New Exteriors, helped me with the last hail storm. He was professional, on time and gave a fair assessment of my roof and gutters which allowed me to decide next steps. When there is bad weather in the area and storm chasers come through, I decline their services and instead call SMA because they are local and trustworthy. Thank you!

We hired SMA to re-side our aging home. It was painted cedar and was looking pretty bad; peeling paint and woodpecker damage. We still are in awe every time we pull into the driveway! Our home looks FABULOUS and we have received many compliments! Matt was open and honest and didn't play games. The installation team was professional. Their attention to detail was superb! They were perfectionists! The finished project was above and beyond our expectations. We highly recommend SMA Exteriors & Restoration!!
