Byrne Architects

We engaged Byrne architects to design our house after meeting with quite a lot of architects/designers. We knew Nick & his team were the ones the minute we sat down. Extremely talented yet so humble, they didn’t make us feel like we had no idea about the process and were so interested in what we wanted. It really is true that you get what you pay for, because their design blew us away, far more amazing than we could have imagined. We couldn’t afford to engage them for the build process, which in hindsight was a mistake because we suspect it cost us more in the long run trying to manage it ourselves. In time, money & stress! But the end result is a credit to Nick and his team. Our tiny little block of land in Albert Park, complete with strict heritage overlay, now has the most beautiful home on it that somehow feels huge thanks to the clever design and use of every square inch of available space. We are now planning our next project and look forward to working with Byrne again.

We were looking for an architect company in Melbourne that would help us fulfil our dream of designing our own modern country home and eventually help us construct our home in the country side. After visiting and being impressed by one of the projects designed and managed by Byrne architects, we felt that this would be a good match. Byrne architects also visited our property in countryside Victoria and after understanding the landscape and the vision we have for the property we have established a good relationship. It has been an exciting journey so far with communication and meetings taking place regularly in an informal and relaxed manner that suits our current life with two small children well. They have been very open to working with our ideas and suggestions as well as offering solutions and new ideas themselves. We engaged Byrne Architects to design a single storey extension (~100sqm) to our heritage home in inner Melbourne. Our brief was to retain the character of the existing house while creating a contemporary, light-filled addition. Nick and his team were great listeners. They worked with us to understand our preferences and budget but also challenged us to think creatively about design and what was possible under the brief. Nick has a great eye for design and space. The raking ceilings make our modestly sized rooms feel large and spacious. Nick was always responsive to our queries and communicated efficiently with our builder. Any construction related matters were managed quickly and with design principles in mind. The whole experience was really gratifying. We felt part of the process. Most importantly, we love the beautiful home Nick and his team designed for us. We would recommend Byrne Architects for a collaborative design approach that produces architecturally elegant and warm spaces.

We engaged Byrne architects in 2018 to help design our dream home. The brief was challenging from the start as Nick was required to incorporate a modern home around a 1960's kidney shaped pool, located at the front on the block. The end product was something that we could never have imagined and could not be happier with the result. Byrne architects, as part of their scope dealt with council directly and expedited the successful award of the permit. The professionalism and prompt action of any request we had throughout the process made dealing with Byrne architects both seamless and enjoyable. Working with Byrne Architects was a great experience. Unlike architects I’d worked with in the past, they were well organized throughout the design and construction process and always hit deadlines. Nicholas impressed us by thinking outside the box, always excited to push the boundaries of new materials and systems. The whole family loves the house, especially how the light filters through the large windows in to the living room and kitchen. We love the connection to the outdoor terrace, and the amazing views we get across the park to the city.

Nicholas and his team worked with us as we navigated the daunting task of finding a suitable site for our family home in Brighton. Over the course of a few months we visited a range of properties and talked through different options, which was essential for us to create our dream house for the kids to grow up in and love. Nicholas was fantastic, coming up with concept designs for each site, talking to agents and planners to make sure we could achieve what we wanted. Communication was always fast and professional, and the team always went above and beyond.
