Farmhouse kitchen layout
The window is dressed with a soft custom Roman valance. This configuration creates an easy work triangle between the fridge, range and sink. To the left of the sink is a panel-front dishwasher. To the left of the d/w is the range plus hood. Backsplash. “I love the look of a wall completely covered in tile, especially when there aren’t upper cabinets,” Kaplan says. “It’s so pretty and clean, and because these tiles are textured they add movement and reflect the light.” The tiles are wavy white elongated ceramic subway tiles. Cabinets. The cabinets are Shaker, which brings some modern farmhouse style into the room. Wall paint: Gray Owl OC-52, Benjamin Moore; cabinetry: custom, Elmwood, through Jack Rosen Custom Kitchens
If keep fridge where is, then create large cut-out (on left) to connect two rooms.
Narrow island. Honed top? Combo of open space and cabinet creates more open feel
See this option to close off mudroom entrance, and just use laundry room entrance...?
Post, island/bench combo transition into FR.
OK..see higher cabinet to right of sink with micro on left...and angled door to mudroom on right..possible for our space?
Basement door wall.
Love almost everything about this layout!
Interesting
This shows bump out (to expand kitchen) allowing space for (2-sided?) fplc, and natural location for screened porch?
Transitional Kitchen by The Works The Works SaveEmail Kitchen (After) Not quite this fancy, but definitely an upgrade. This version involves bumping out the back wall (not necessary for us?). I'm including it here to see how we may be able to incorporate a wood stove into this space. If we do not open up this wall 100% (I.e. Keep one appliance and/or cabinet plus fplc), we could have openings on both sides of fplc, on right and instead of window (on left). This will help with light distro throughout house. According to builder, Bumping out the back of the house was the only change made to the home’s footprint. The ceiling beams are new. Carrara marble tile covers the walls. Countertops are Pietra Gray quartz, and Pyrolave glazed lava covers the island.
Would this layout work for us? Is it expensive to include side porch as part of house (with spray insulation?)
Can we do... Turn table 90 degrees and place along DR-basement wall to conserve space in GR. Traffic pattern would be routed thru kitchen area as trade off. Table could be pushed against wall to conserve space when needed.
See how column is used as separator between kitchen and GR. Also like idea of incorporating dining table into kitchen area to conserve more space for seating in GR.
Pantry mudroom wall
Idea for pretty, functional cabinet as transition to GR
Pantry “closet” instead of “room”; shallow display/storage upper cabs/shelving to conserve space. Cab is used a room divider.
Put kitchen along one wall with beverage cabinet or other cabs on opposite side and large doors/Windows from kitchen out to view.
Really love this reconfiguration of kitchen along pantry wall with colored island. Close off all doors/Windows on this wall and add new sliding doors from kitchen to patio/deck and view (on right). Could have secondary in/out in DR (where window is now).
See angled cabinet on right side of kitchen. Can we do this on both sides of our kitchen?
Option for wall (or no wall) between kitchen and GR. Need to think about where wood stove is.
Can we add beverage station on left (at current broken window) with electrical outlet
Like cabinets and drawers on right for DR-basement wall. Seems very useful
Can this lighted cabinet be in current basement entry or pantry?
Drink station at basement entry?
Something shallow, at least on top cabs. Wood top is great. Bin pulls are perfect for cabinet style. In cabinet and under cabinet lighting a must. Greenery, white and glass
The "guideline" for sizing trim... The 7 percent solution. When sizing a baseboard in a traditional-style home, a good starting point is to use a ratio of 7 percent. So if your ceiling height is 8 feet high, try a baseboard that’s about 7 inches tall.
Step back cabinet (on left) to make room for island...?
Peninsula parallel to DR wall? Really like lanterns!
If we move door to current window location, can we squeeze in banquet and small table here? Good use of our space, if there's room.
Stop at small cabinet to right of stove hood. Do we have room for small round table? Do we even need another table if we have dining table next door?
This peninsula overflows INTO kitchen (only overlaps onto GR wall by appx 10" (?), making it slightly smaller, but allows more space for dining table and seating in GR
Can we do this on basement-DR wall, making this a beverage center and substituting beverage fridge for D/W? If you have a small ranch kitchen with low ceilings, use translucent or transparent glass on the upper cabinets for a lighter, more open look.
Can we use pretty fridge cab as divider into GR, with rest of this configuration on smaller scale?
Short peninsula. Check final design to make sure it's easy to rinse, D/W and put away dishes.
Move pantry to where old window is in kitchen?
Notice bump outs for fridge and ovens. Maybe we can borrow space from basement entrance and pantry AND build out, if necessary, to accommodate larger appliances.
IF we expand kitchen into pantry (counters and fridge), can e move sink toward right to make mor room here for beverage station, pantry items, etc.
Love this so much!
Basement door area, could have pullout top...?
