My Project
Fireplace is a must. One in bedroom too would be nice but not an have-to-have. Do not want a tv over the fireplace. TV need to go somewhere else. Not sure how to design this without adding an extra "den/media" room but want to be able to enjoy fireplace and view without having to listen to, for example, the soap opera movies Ardea watches.
Definitely will need a space for one, possibly two cars (Ardea/guest/caregiver) and lawnmower types of things. I have thought about a separate building with garage, shop, storage and then an live-above unit. Just one bedroom, bath, small laundry and living room, kitchen. But small. For guest or caregiver to age in place.
Place to sit in all kinds of weather. Windows. View. But still feeling of privacy. I do worry about that on our property. Feeling like everyone on Bainbridge, Boys and Girls Club can watch us, especially at night and throughout the winter. How to resolve having lots of windows, light and view but still privacy.
Like the vintage feel and smaller shower. Don't care for the decor. Like the window by the tub.
Love the farmhouse vibe and natural tones in this room. Don't mind it's neutrals because it has wood, ceramics, sort of an "organic" feel to it. The kitchen layout is nice too. Lots of counter workspace. Though...I worry about the whole flat surfaces and clutter thing (winky winky Joel).
Pantry and places for storage. Farmhouse feel.
Pantry and place for storage.
Farmhouse feel. Windows. Like the organic elements such as the wood and warm feel.
Farmhouse feel. Some rustic and some new. Not keen on white kitchens though.
Gable, windows and sections of house. However this feels a bit too contemporary to me and I'm not so keen on some of the minimal molding and stripped down modern feel as much.
Gabled roof and home in sections that feel like farmhouses. Don't want a white house though. Confess I am still in love with yellow houses like ours in Seattle.
Window molding and outside details. I do love our Victorian, yet simple, home in Seattle. I like the coziness of it and the feeling of history. I do worry about a house feeling too contemporary and--for me anyway--sterile because of that. Also, we are NOT minimalists. Have lots of stuff, clutter. Definitely one, and probably two of us, aren't so neat and tidy.
Gables and connected house sections. But even though I like the "look" I'm not sure I'd feel like our furniture and decor "fits" in a house like this. We have antiques and things that are more from a "grandma" (our grandmas) era. But I'd be interested in updating some things to feel more contemporary like our furniture (bed, couches, rugs).
Gable roof. Connected house sections. REALLY want to have Ardea in a separate part of the house on the opposite side of the house from us and in a place where we don't feel cut off from the main rooms in the house, like we do now (living room). I don't want to feel trapped in a *very* tiny room like we are now in the office. That being said, the office is my favorite room because of the light and feel.
Gable roof and farmhouse feel. Like that it feels old and I like those transome windows. I like the idea of windows and doors and probably a lot of them but all the photos that show living with all the doors open....not going to happen. First the weather and dust and then the cats which will be indoors only. Can't go outside. So we would never leave doors flung open like this.
Deck access outside bedroom. View. Windows and light but also privacy/shade.
Windows and view. French doors. But still a feeling of privacy and coziness. I am all about coziness.
Gable roof. Separate sections to house. The stone feels heavy to me though and the whole house very "country club" vibe which is not my thing.
I do also like fireplaces with wood mantles/surrounds. Not keen on the rest of the room.
