Courtyard
Marnie's look for fireplace as you come into courtyard. See thru fireplace that also goes into House/Great room. Marnie likes wide mantel - not sure top of fireplace will look like this because it will be the wall of the LR too...but capturing the look/feel. Gas fireplace as it will be an indoor/outdoor see thru FP workign for both rooms.
Basic look of fireplace centered, flat roof line, doors on either side. Maybe a pool where the pond is if we have the space either width wise or length...i'd like wood tile but I concede a tile is better if we go with Spanish/Hacienda design. Fireplace wold have to be indoor/outdoor design and larger in size than this image but it captures my visual
This is close to the concept I have in my head. Hadn't considered covered walkways but it would be nice if we had the land/space to go that wide. Vision is a u-shaped home - one side private - bedroom/bath/laundry room/pat's office. Other side gathering - kitchen/foyer/dining. In the center linking two sides together is the great room.
do we want this kind of look? Fun! the courtyard didn't have to have a top but maybe it should...if not fully closed up maybe beams across the courtyard would be nice - we'll need lighting regardless and beams could be the anchor for the lights. I like the fun element to this...doesn't go with Mediterran look though...hmmm
Courtyard doors have to open side-to-side. This could be a good look as it will face the street. Not sure if slats are open and what's the other material. Glass? More of a modern look but i could see how this would anchor the two different sides of the house connecting them from the courtyard. BIG fireplace will be the first thing people see when they come into the courtyard so doors need to match the fireplace/house look.
I think i like the grass growing between the tiles...
