3. Put On a Show Driven in part by TV shows, watching meal preparation and cooking has become part of the entertaining process. “Placing seating close to or at the edge of a kitchen allows guests to participate in the entertainment of meal prep but without being in the path of busy chefs,” Roessler says. Clients in Morgan Hill did a lot of entertaining and wanted room in the kitchen for their guests. As part of the kitchen remodel, Roessler and his team designed a curved island and placed the seating so that it landed between the family room and the kitchen, putting the food prep front and center. Guests perched at the counter can now talk to the hosts while they prepare dinner.
