The subway tiles were custom made and have what appears to be a texture from a distance, but is actually a herringbone pattern in-lay in the glaze. Interiors by PopovWhen we drove out to Mukilteo for our initial consultation, we immediately fell in love with this house. With its tall ceilings, eclectic mix of wood, glass and steel, and gorgeous view of the Puget Sound, we quickly nicknamed this project "The Mukilteo Gem". Our client, a cook and baker, did not like her existing kitchen. The main points of issue were short runs of available counter tops, lack of storage and shortage of light. So, we were called in to implement some big, bold ideas into a small footprint kitchen with big potential. We completely changed the layout of the room by creating a tall, built-in storage wall and a continuous u-shape counter top. Early in the project, we took inventory of every item our clients wanted to store in the kitchen and ensured that every spoon, gadget, or bowl would have a dedicated "home" in their new kitchen. The finishes were meticulously selected to ensure continuity throughout the house. We also played with the color scheme to achieve a bold yet natural feel.This kitchen is a prime example of how color can be used to both make a statement and project peace and balance simultaneously. While busy at work on our client's kitchen improvement, we also updated the entry and gave the homeowner a modern laundry room with triple the storage space they originally had.
End result: ecstatic clients and a very happy design team. That's what we call a big success!

Studio DearbornA young family moving from NYC tackled a makeover of their young colonial revival home to make it feel more personal. The kitchen area was quite spacious but needed a facelift and a banquette for breakfast. Painted cabinetry matched to Benjamin Moore’s Light Pewter is balanced by Benjamin Moore Ocean Floor on the island. Mixed metals on the lighting by Allied Maker, faucets and hardware and custom tile by Pratt and Larson make the space feel organic and personal. Photos Adam Macchia. ZulufishA detached Edwardian villa set over three storeys, with the master suite on the top floor, four bedrooms (one en-suite) and family bathroom on the first floor and a sitting room, snug, cloakroom, utility, hall and kitchen-diner leading to the garden on the ground level.
With their children grown up and pursuing further education, the owners of this property wanted to turn their home into a sophisticated space the whole family could enjoy.
Although generously sized, it was a typical period property with a warren of dark rooms that didn’t suit modern life. The garden was awkward to access and some rooms rarely used. As avid foodies and cooks, the family wanted an open kitchen-dining area where the could entertain their friends, with plentiful storage and a connection to the garden.
Our design team reconfigured the ground floor and added a small rear and side extension to open the space for a huge kitchen and dining area, with a bank of Crittall windows leading to the garden (redesigned by Ruth Willmott).
Ultra-marine blue became the starting point for the kitchen and ground floor design – this fresh hue extends to the garden to unite indoors and outdoors.
Bespoke cabinetry designed by HUX London provides ample storage, and on one section beautiful fluted glass panels hide a TV. The cabinetry is complemented by a spectacular book-matched marble splash-back, and timber, parquet flooring, which extends throughout the ground floor.
The open kitchen area incorporates a glamorous dining table by Marcel Wanders, which the family use every day.
Now a snug, this was the darkest room with the least going for it architecturally. A cool and cosy space was created with elegant wall-panelling, a low corner sofa, stylish wall lamps and a wood-burning stove. It’s now ¬the family’s favourite room, as they gather here for movie nights.
The formal sitting room is an elegant space where the family plays music. A sumptuous teal sofa, a hand-knotted silk and wool rug and a vibrant abstract artwork bring a fresh feel.
This teenager’s bedroom with its taupe palette, luxurious finishes and study area has a grown-up vibe, and leads to a gorgeous marble-clad en-suite bathroom.
The couple now have their own dedicated study, with a streamlined double desk and bespoke cabinetry.
In the master suite, the sloping ceilings were maximised with bespoke wardrobes by HUX London, while a calming scheme was created with soft, neutral tones and rich textures.
Regarding DesignBuilt in the iconic neighborhood of Mount Curve, just blocks from the lakes, Walker Art Museum, and restaurants, this is city living at its best. Myrtle House is a design-build collaboration with Hage Homes and Regarding Design with expertise in Southern-inspired architecture and gracious interiors. With a charming Tudor exterior and modern interior layout, this house is perfect for all ages.
StoneUnlimited Kitchen and Bath RemodelingWhen designing this beautiful kitchen, we knew that our client’s favorite color was blue. Upon entering the home, it was easy to see that great care had been taken to incorporate the color blue throughout. So, when our Designer Sherry knew that our client wanted an island, she jumped at the opportunity to add a pop of color to their kitchen.
Having a kitchen island can be a great opportunity to showcase an accent color that you love or serve as a way to showcase your style and personality. Our client chose a bold saturated blue which draws the eye into the kitchen. Shadow Storm Marble countertops, 3x6 Bianco Polished Marble backsplash and Waypoint Painted Linen floor to ceiling cabinets brighten up the space and add contrast. Arabescato Carrara Herringbone Marble was used to add a design element above the range.
The major renovations performed on this kitchen included:
A peninsula work top and a small island in the middle of the room for the range was removed. A set of double ovens were also removed in order for the range to be moved against the wall to allow the middle of the kitchen to open up for the installment of the large island. Placing the island parallel to the sink, opened up the kitchen to the family room and made it more inviting.

Martins Camisuli ArchitectsWhat struck us strange about this property was that it was a beautiful period piece but with the darkest and smallest kitchen considering it's size and potential. We had a quite a few constrictions on the extension but in the end we managed to provide a large bright kitchen/dinning area with direct access to a beautiful garden and keeping the 'new ' in harmony with the existing building. We also expanded a small cellar into a large and functional Laundry room with a cloakroom bathroom.

Create PerfectThe new open-plan kitchen and living room have a sloped roof extension with skylights and large bi-folding doors. We designed the kitchen bespoke to our client's individual requirements with 6 seats at a large double sides island, a large corner pantry unit and a hot water tap. Off this space, there is also a utility room.
The seating area has a three-seater and a two-seater sofa which both recline. There is also still space to add a dining table if the client wishes in the future.

Our client wanted to create a social, open plan space where the family could come together to eat, talk and cook with each other on a regular basis.
We use the Shelford to create this classic shaker kitchen with contemporary touch in two colours – inkwell and light grey.
The quartz worktop in Tuscany white really brought the island and the wall units together as one space. The kitchen was completed with appliances from our Neff range along with a Blanco sink & tap.
Simon Taylor FurnitureOur clients were seeking a classic and stylish Shaker kitchen with a contemporary edge, to complement the architecture of their five-year-old house, which features a modern beamed ceiling and herringbone flooring. They also wanted a kitchen island to include banquette seating surrounding one end of a large industrial-style dining table with an Ash wooden table top that our clients already owned. We designed the main run of in frame cabinetry with a classic cornice to completely fit within the recessed space along the back wall behind the island, which is hand-painted in Stewkey Blue by Farrow & Ball. This includes a central inglenook and an overmantel that conceals a Siemens canopy extractor hood above a white Everhot range cooker. Overhead cabinets and undercounter storage cupboards were included within the design, together with oak dovetailed deep drawer storage boxes. A Samsung American-style fridge freezer was also integrated within the run. A 30mm thick quartz worktop in Tuscany colourway extends on either side of the range cooker and this is repeated on the kitchen island as well, with an overhang on both sides of the u-shaped design to accommodate bar stools beneath. In the centre of the island, we created u-shaped banquette seating upholstered in grey velvet to surround one end of the large rectangular dining table. To store their collection of fine wines, we specified two undercounter wine conditioners by Miele to fit within each end of the island to store reds, whites and Champagnes. Along the length of the island, facing the Everhot is a large ceramic double-bowl Belfast sink by Shaws of Darwen and a Quooker Cube tap, providing hot, cold, boiling and sparkling water. On the task side of the island, two 60cm dishwashers by Miele are integrated at either end of the cabinetry together with storage for pull-out bins and utility items.
On a further run to the left of the island, we designed and made a large Shaker two-door pantry larder, hand-painted in All White by Farrow & Ball and featuring deep dovetail drawer boxes beneath. Extending on either side of the pantry is natural oak contemporary open shelving to mix with the traditional design of the kitchen. A further freestanding cabinet with a natural solid oak top was handmade to sit beneath the client’s wall-mounted television. Cup handles and knobs are all brushed brass by Crofts and Assinder, with matching brass butt hinges.

We reconfigured the kitchen and family room by adding a small addition in the family room and stacking doors. In the kitchen we moved the cooktop off of the island and refrigerator to another wall which expand the cooking countertop.

Davonport Kitchen & HomeFrom the moment the Browns first visited the dilapidated Victorian vicarage they fell in love with its potential. Having been unoccupied for over a decade, the five-bedroom detached property in Essex was inhabitable. However, with its original period features all still intact, the scale and proportions of the building provided the perfect opportunity to create a unique family home.
The original kitchen was in a part of the Vicarage that was only single skinned (wall thickness), therefore, to comply with modern building standards the room needed to be rebuilt. This provided the couple with the opportunity to increase the space available to accommodate a spacious kitchen-diner.
To complement the Victorian heritage of the property the kitchen furniture was designed in Davonport’s classic Tillingham shaker-style cabinetry and hand-painted in Farrow and Ball’s Hague Blue with striking bronze elements.
A selection of luxury appliances from Sub-zero Wolf, Miele, and Quooker were chosen by the Browns to suit their lifestyle – they especially missed the ease of a hot water tap whilst living in rented accommodation when they were renovating!
