Their primary goals were to increase the size of the shower, add a rain head, add a freestanding tub and overall freshen the feel of the space. The existing layout of the bath worked well, so we left the basic footprint the same, but increased the size of the shower and added a freestanding tub on a bit of an angle which allowed for some additional storage. One of the most important things on the wish list was adding a rainhead in the shower, but this was not an easy task with the angled ceiling. We came up with the solution of using an extra long wall-mounted shower arm that was reinforced with a meal bracket attached the ceiling. This did the trick, and no extra framing or insulation was required to make it work. The materials selected for the space are classic and fresh. Large format white oriental marble is used throughout the bath, on the floor in a herrinbone pattern and in a staggered brick pattern on the walls. Alder cabinets with a gray stain contrast nicely with the white marble, while shiplap detail helps unify the space and gives it a casual and cozy vibe. Storage solutions include an area for towels and other necessities at the foot of the tub, roll out shelves and out storage in the vanities and a custom niche and shaving ledge in the shower. We love how just a few simple changes can make such a great impact! This modern farmhouse bathroom has an extra large vanity with double sinks to make use of a longer rectangular bathroom. The wall behind the vanity has counter to ceiling Jeffrey Court white subway tiles that tie into the shower. There is a playful mix of metals throughout including the black framed round mirrors from CB2, brass & black sconces with glass globes from Shades of Light , and gold wall-mounted faucets from Phylrich. The countertop is quartz with some gold veining to pull the selections together. The charcoal navy custom vanity has ample storage including a pull-out laundry basket while providing contrast to the quartz countertop and brass hexagon cabinet hardware from CB2. This bathroom has a glass enclosed tub/shower that is tiled to the ceiling. White subway tiles are used on two sides with an accent deco tile wall with larger textured field tiles in a chevron pattern on the back wall. Our clients wanted a REAL master bathroom with enough space for both of them to be in there at the same time. Their house, built in the 1940’s, still had plenty of the original charm, but also had plenty of its original tiny spaces that just aren’t very functional for modern life. The original bathroom had a tiny stall shower, and just a single vanity with very limited storage and counter space. Not to mention kitschy pink subway tile on every wall. With some creative reconfiguring, we were able to reclaim about 25 square feet of space from the bedroom. Which gave us the space we needed to introduce a double vanity with plenty of storage, and a HUGE walk-in shower that spans the entire length of the new bathroom! While we knew we needed to stay true to the original character of the house, we also wanted to bring in some modern flair! Pairing strong graphic floor tile with some subtle (and not so subtle) green tones gave us the perfect blend of classic sophistication with a modern glow up. Our clients were thrilled with the look of their new space, and were even happier about how large and open it now feels!

Traditional bathroom project in Alexandria, VA with marble tiles, free standing vanity, polished chrome fixtures, black &white tiles, sliding glass door and stylish medicine cabinets and vanity lights.

Another update project we did in the same Townhome community in Culver city. This time more towards Modern Farmhouse / Transitional design. Kitchen cabinets were completely refinished with new hardware installed. The black island is a great center piece to the white / gold / brown color scheme. The Master bathroom was transformed from a plain contractor's bathroom to a true modern mid-century jewel of the house. The black floor and tub wall tiles are a fantastic way to accent the white tub and freestanding wooden vanity. Notice how the plumbing fixtures are almost hidden with the matte black finish on the black tile background. The shower was done in a more modern tile layout with aligned straight lines. The hallway Guest bathroom was partially updated with new fixtures, vanity, toilet, shower door and floor tile. that's what happens when older style white subway tile came back into fashion. They fit right in with the other updates.

This transitional style bathroom features a large frameless walk-in shower with classic herringbone subway tile floor and shower walls, dual shower heads, and built-in bench and shampoo niche. The custom-built double sink vanity, in Sherwin Williams Peppercorn, is the perfect companion to the white quartz countertops, champagne bronze fixtures, black framed modern mirror and soft multi color matte porcelain tile floors.

This bathroom features a clawfoot soaking tub which was custom painted and placed within the shower to create a wet room. The tile was kept classic with a 3" honed marble hexagon on the floors and classic white subway tile on the walls. Brass Waterworks fixtures complete the look.
