The architecture of this mid-century ranch in Portland’s West Hills oozes modernism’s core values. We wanted to focus on areas of the home that didn’t maximize the architectural beauty. The Client—a family of three, with Lucy the Great Dane, wanted to improve what was existing and update the kitchen and Jack and Jill Bathrooms, add some cool storage solutions and generally revamp the house. We totally reimagined the entry to provide a “wow” moment for all to enjoy whilst entering the property. A giant pivot door was used to replace the dated solid wood door and side light. We designed and built new open cabinetry in the kitchen allowing for more light in what was a dark spot. The kitchen got a makeover by reconfiguring the key elements and new concrete flooring, new stove, hood, bar, counter top, and a new lighting plan. Our work on the Humphrey House was featured in Dwell Magazine.

This 6500 s.f. new home on one of the best blocks in San Francisco’s Pacific Heights, was designed for the needs of family with two work-from-home professionals. We focused on well-scaled rooms and excellent flow between spaces. We applied customized classical detailing and luxurious materials over a modern design approach of clean lines and state-of-the-art contemporary amenities. Materials include integral color stucco, custom mahogany windows, book-matched Calacatta marble, slate roofing and wrought-iron railings.

In the shower, oval accent tile runs vertically rather than horizontally, breaking up the expanse of white. Chrome rain shower head, massage hand held shower, and chrome fixtures are echoed in the metal edge that surrounds the storage niche, a more modern touch than traditional white bullnose tile.

The owner of this urban residence, which exhibits many natural materials, i.e., exposed brick and stucco interior walls, originally signed a contract to update two of his bathrooms. But, after the design and material phase began in earnest, he opted to removed the second bathroom from the project and focus entirely on the Master Bath. And, what a marvelous outcome! With the new design, two full­height walls were removed (one completely and the second lowered to knee­wall height) allowing the eye to sweep the entire space as one enters. The views, no longer hindered by walls, have been completely enhanced by the materials chosen. The limestone counter and tub deck are mated with the Rift­cut Oak, Espresso stained, custom cabinets and panels. Cabinetry, within the extended design, that appears to float in space, is highlighted by the under­cabinet LED lighting, creating glowing warmth that spills across the butter­colored floor. Stacked stone wall and splash tiles are balanced perfectly with the honed travertine floor tiles; floor tiles installed with a linear stagger, again, pulling the viewer into the restful space. The lighting, introduced, appropriately, in several layers, includes ambient, task (sconces installed through the mirroring), and “sparkle” (under­cabinet LED and mirror­frame LED). The final detail that marries this beautifully remodeled bathroom was the removal of the entry slab hinged door and in the installation of the new custom five glass panel pocket door. Ванная комната не отличается от общей концепции дизайна: светлая, уютная и присутствие древесной отделки. Изначально, заказчик предложил вариант голубой плитки, как цветовая гамма в спальне. Ему было предложено два варианта: по его пожеланию и по идее дизайнера, которая включает в себя общий стиль интерьера. Заказчик предпочёл вариант дизайнера, что ещё раз подтвердило её опыт и умение понимать клиента.

Cette salle de bain était toute blanche et très froide : nous l'avons habillée de chêne et de Terrazzo et soulignée d'un graphisme noir et d'accessoires vert pour une pointe de peps... So chic!

This home originally had a white tiled, sunken tub. This tub was no longer useful to the homeowner, so we raised it, put it in the corner and undermounted it beneath a slab of granite. Easier access for the homeowner. The granite then flows seamlessly into the frameless shower adjacent, to create the shower bench.
