Our client asked us to remodel the Master Bathroom of her 1970's lake home which was quite an honor since it was an important and personal space that she had been dreaming about for years. As a busy doctor and mother of two, she needed a sanctuary to relax and unwind. She and her husband had previously remodeled their entire house except for the Master Bath which was dark, tight and tired. She wanted a better layout to create a bright, clean, modern space with Calacatta gold marble, navy blue glass tile and cabinets and a sprinkle of gold hardware. The results were stunning... a fresh, clean, modern, bright and beautiful Master Bathroom that our client was thrilled to enjoy for years to come.

DOWNLOAD NOW This unit, located in a 4-flat owned by TKS Owners Jeff and Susan Klimala, was remodeled as their personal pied-à-terre, and doubles as an Airbnb property when they are not using it. Jeff and Susan were drawn to the location of the building, a vibrant Chicago neighborhood, 4 blocks from Wrigley Field, as well as to the vintage charm of the 1890’s building. The entire 2 bed, 2 bath unit was renovated and furnished, including the kitchen, with a specific Parisian vibe in mind. Although the location and vintage charm were all there, the building was not in ideal shape -- the mechanicals -- from HVAC, to electrical, plumbing, to needed structural updates, peeling plaster, out of level floors, the list was long. Susan and Jeff drew on their expertise to update the issues behind the walls while also preserving much of the original charm that attracted them to the building in the first place -- heart pine floors, vintage mouldings, pocket doors and transoms. Because this unit was going to be primarily used as an Airbnb, the Klimalas wanted to make it beautiful, maintain the character of the building, while also specifying materials that would last and wouldn’t break the budget. Susan enjoyed the hunt of specifying these items and still coming up with a cohesive creative space that feels a bit French in flavor. Parisian style décor is all about casual elegance and an eclectic mix of old and new. Susan had fun sourcing some more personal pieces of artwork for the space, creating a dramatic black, white and moody green color scheme for the kitchen and highlighting the living room with pieces to showcase the vintage fireplace and pocket doors. A light palette with very minimal brass fixtures, making the Tadelakt and the booked match wall the true stars. Perhaps it’s because of its exotic provenance or perhaps because it connects us to nature, but tadelakt is is one of our favorite material so far. A plaster that has a special application and finish, Tadelakt was originally invented and used by the Berbers in Morocco. It was used for walls, sinks, showers and drinking vessels. It feels both sophisticated and rudimentary at the same time.

The Ultimate retreat to soak away the days worries or the busiest room in the house during the morning rush. This space needs to be functional, easy to clean and also visually appealing. This bathroom has it all with an modern minimalist style, focused on clean lines, raw concrete looking tile on all four walls & flooring. A versatile double basin vanity fits perfectly into this space, made from a timber look that has given this space warmth along with created fabulous storage. Twin round mirrors offer a practical way of adding task light and creating as illusion of a bigger space. This bathroom has ticked all the appropriate boxes with the seamless walk-in shower featured in the ensuite and standing proud the main family bathroom is completed with a large freestanding bathtub housed in an outstanding wet room.

This West Austin couple was halfway through a re-design on their home when their dream house popped up for sale. Without hesitation they bought it and a new project was hatched. While the new house was in better shape, it needed several improvements including a new primary bathroom. Now this contemporary spa-like retreat features a vanity with a floating cabinet with large storage drawers, basket storage and a thick marble countertop, black mirrors and hardware. Accent tile runs from the floor up the shower wall. Set in a herringbone pattern, the tile adds color, texture and is the focal point of the room.

the main bathroom was to be a timeless, elegant sanctuary, to create a sense of peace within a busy home. We chose a neutrality and understated colour palette which evokes a feeling a calm, and allows the brushed brass fittings and free standing bath to become the focus.
