The Art of LandscapeAs per the overall design, the owner built additional tiers flowing out from his existing Ipe decking to create a small 'Viewing Deck' close to upper waterfall. Ipe planters were installed in between the upper and lower deck with broad steps in between to leave the wide possible opening for an optimal view from kitchen window and the entertaining areas on the main deck out to the Wellspring area. The planters were finished with copper fronts and copper pipe detailing to match copper details in the existing deck railings. These planters are currently planted with lavender for their scent and strawberries for easy nibbles.

Sloan Architects, P.C.Stepping through the French doors of the loft balcony, one gains the view and the revelation of the cottage-style garden and its Stissing Mountain backdrop beyond. As a continuum - a newly designed bluestone terrace, with its rustic stone fountain and pebble spillway, is crafted as the garden extended “living room”; where one can take in the breathtaking scenery.
Continuing out from the garden, a mix of wood chips and stones form the intended serpentine paths that wind through the fields and woodlands and link to other parts of the property, maximizing the enjoyment of the 30 acres and the providing a reconnection to nature.

Seattle Urban Farm CompanyA large south-facing suburban front lawn was converted into an edible garden that doubles as a dynamic and functional threshold to the front entryway of the home. The client, a young family with 2 small children, needed the space to remain relatively low maintenance and act as a teaching tool for the kids. The stone and timber raised beds and simple pathways help contain the gardening spaces and maintain clear lines to move through the site, whether it be to the front door, the driveway, or another part of the garden.
Layered around the clean, simple lines of the terraced garden are more organic spaces that are planted with perennial beneficial and edible flowers and along the fence line is a single sweep of lavender.

LaneScapesThis raised vegetable garden was created with railroad ties. A drip irrigation system was also installed that was easy to use and adjust based on the plant selections to be grown. A decomposed granite pathway was installed around the garden and a planter bed was installed behind the garden to grow up and provide color and screening to the adjacent property.

UserElizabeth Leonard- The home owner wanted to squeeze in a veggie garden without sacrificing too much of her yard where her children play, as well as securing the garden from the local deer population. We succeeded in providing an aesthetically pleasing garden that produced enough for this small family, by using the space she had effectively. The deer fencing blends into the environment while securing her harvest . All while staying within her budget.
