Интересно, что еще задолго до строительства заказчица получила в подарок прелестные вазоны 18 века, можно сказать с них все и началось. Вместе с заказчиком мы объехали несколько стран в поиске нужных предметов, что-то привезли сами из поездок. Работали с антикваром в Париже. Нами было подобрано искусство близкое по духу. Владельцы дома - Успешные предприниматели и энергичные люди средних лет, живущие вдвоем, но часто принимающие в гостях своих детей, внуков, родственников и друзей. Предпочитают слушать хорошую музыку на виниле, собираться шумной компанией в кабинете главы семейства, хозяйка дома играет на барабанах, при чем их группа даже сделала камерный концерт «для своих» прямо в гостиной после сдачи объекта. Главное пожелание было создать интерьер с ощущением, что в этом доме прожило уже несколько поколений семейства, создать дом с историей семьи и ее духом. Основной функциональной задачей было создать закрытую террасу-оранжерею, в которой можно было бы отдохнуть от городской суеты, трансформирующуюся в открытую веранду в теплое время года, спроектировать изразцовую печь, для приготовления блюд и создания особой атмосферы с помощью открытого огня. Спроектировать кухню, объединённую с гостиной, таким образом, чтобы выделить немалое пространство для отдыха и релаксации у камина, без вмешательства в пространство приготовления блюд. Так же необходимо было проанализировать оптимальныt маршруты передвижения владельцев по дому, учесть все требования к приватным зонам и спроектировать их максимально комфортно и с учетом ритма жизни хозяев. Исходя из этого родилось планировочное решение, отвечающее требованиям всего семейства. Планировка создавалась нами с нуля, так как мы вели проектирование с самого начала, еще до возведения конструкций. Поэтому все что было необходимо учесть мы учли на начальных этапах и необходимости в переносе стен и других конструкций не возникло. Что касается систем хранения. К этому вопросу хозяева дома относятся очень щепетильно и взвешено. Поэтому мы организовали целое помещение площадью 30 м2 в подвальном этаже здания, для хранение сезонных вещей и постирочной, где располагаются как системы хранения, так и техника по уходу за одеждой. В приватной зоне хозяев на первом этаже мы расположили гардеробную комнату, для хранения вещей владельцев дома. При входе расположен большой шкаф, для верхней одежды, обуви и других предметов. Под лестницей мы так же заложили большое пространство для хранения инвентаря для уборки. Помимо этого, каждая жилая комната имеет внушительный платяной шкаф и другие системы хранения. Отдельное место в проектировании занимает раздел освещения. Разработаны разные сценарии, как повседневный для уютных посиделок в семейном кругу, так и парадный вариант для встречи гостей. Так например в кухне-гостиной мы разместили две люстры с плафонами в несколько ярусов, т.к высота потолка восемь метров и добавили технический рассеянный свет. В зоне камина расположили две напольные лампы для придания уюта. В зоне кухни продумана подсветка рабочей поверхности. В приватных зонах дома так же использовался технический свет, люстры больше выполняют декоративную функцию, прикроватные лампы для чтения. В зоне террасы располагается верхний свет, люстра над столом, бра и настольные лампы в мягкой зоне. Цветовая палитра дома выполнена преимущественно в светлых оттенках с добавлением акцентов. В главной парадной части дома палитра возникла из маленького образца ткани для портьер. В других помещениях отправными точками стали винтажные предметы мебели, ковры купленные на антикварных рынках. Стены мы оставили нейтральными чтобы со временем можно было менять настроение с помощью замены текстиля и оббивки мебели. Но одно помещение все же получилось отличным от остальных- это винотека. Там мы создали атмосферу камерную в достаточно насыщенных древесных оттенках, природных зеленых, терракотовых. Терраса получилась садом, и сама продиктовала спокойную серо-древесную гамму. Предметы мебели тщательно подбирались на протяжении нескольких месяцев поиска. Заказчики очень любят предметы с историей, большинство винтажных привезли из Франции. Хотелось создать смесь Европы и Азии, мы побывали в Китае и привезли несколько аутентичных вещей. Многие вещи коллекционировались годами и были перевезены из прежнего дома. Столярные изделия выполнялись под заказ по нашим эскизам. Кухню заказывали у фабрики Scavollini. Два спальных гарнитура Francesco Pasi в спальне хозяев и гостевой спальне. К выбору декора мы отнеслись с неменьшим энтузиазмом, получилось целое приключение, в котором участвовали мы и заказчики. Поиски были по разным странам, что-то куплено у нас. Сказать можно одно, что каждую вещь, что вы видите на снимках не была привезена на объект для красоты кадра, а это именно те предметы, которые живут в доме. Например, у заказчицы огромная коллекция фарфора. Текстиль во многом предопределил интерьер в доме, его мы выбрали практически первым с чего и завязалась цветовая гамма. Ткани преимущественно использовались английские и французские. Стиль интерьера предопределила архитектура дома, а прежде всего посыл заказчика. Работали мы в команде с архитектором, т.к считаем важным создавать цельные, гармоничные проекты, где все слажено и дополняет друг друга. Определить стилевое направление достаточно сложно, мы создавали портрет обитателей этого дома с их характером, дом получился очень персонализированным. Но есть одна примечательная черта, в новый дом мы внесли оттенки старины, будто дом живет уже не одно десятилетие. Как же без сложностей! Кто вам скажет, что можно построить дом мечты легко, слукавит! В процессе стройки возникает множество вопросов, которые требуют четкости, слаженной работы команды, компетентных подрядчиков. В этом проекте сложным узлом было проектирование лестницы и финишных покрытий. Мы перебрали не один вариант и никак не могли найти нужное решение. Но упорство и картинка в голове сделали свое дело, решение было найдено и воплощено в жизнь. Сроки вместе с проектированием, стройкой дома и отделкой заняли 2,5 года.

This client’s vision for their kitchen/hearth room remodel was to create a harmonious space for gathering and socializing with family and friends. Contact us today to discuss Translating Your Visions into Reality The client was interested in new appliance technology, cabinetry to the ceiling, and an Island large enough to seat 3. They also wanted a built-in breakfast nook, improved pantry space, more functional storage on either side of their fireplace, and a built-in appearance for the TV above the mantel. The original built-in desk was not used, and they preferred for that space to serve as a small bar area with refrigeration and a place to store their printer. We designed several plans for the space before selecting the final layout. The new design required the removal of the soffit over the old sink, as well as a small wall beside the old refrigerator. The wall beside the stairwell had to be shortened 13 inches and a new beam installed to carry the load of the home’s 2nd story to gain enough space for the large central island. The existing closet pantry walls were also reconfigured as per the new plan. This serves as a great reminder that Dimensions In Wood is much more than just custom cabinets. Central to the entire custom kitchen is an 8-foot Walnut island. The huge island, which comfortably seats three, is topped with Essenza Blue quartzite. The stone’s natural striations are beautiful. Quartzite is harder than granite, and less likely to stain than other stones because of its density. The couple had to look through multiple slabs to find a piece they LOVED. The island’s custom Walnut cabinetry, built to resemble a piece of custom furniture, was stained Bronzed Walnut by Sherwin Williams. The 4-foot Galley Workstation in the island, handles all the kitchen’s prep, serving, and cleanup needs. The Galley’s culinary tools include an upper tier cutting board, upper tier drying rack, 2 lower tier platforms, 11″ colander with non-slip handles, and 11” mixing bowl with lid and non-slip bottom. Learn more about the amazing Galley Workstation here. A Waterstone gantry faucet in a pewter finish combines a pull-down sprayer for maximum mobility and a articulated swivel spout. A water tap with reverse osmosis filter provides the highest quality drinking water. To keep a clean and sleek counter we installed a raised air switch for the garbage disposal and integrated soap dispenser. The island also houses the Thermador Sapphire 7-Program Dishwasher with a hidden touch control panel and a custom Walnut wood front. The cabinetry under the Galley Workstation features a trash roll out, as well as storage for the culinary tools. Shortening the stairwell wall, and reframing around the stairs, which included shortening the handrail, also made room for a bi-fold door walk-in pantry with extra roll out storage and space for a small microwave. Above the panty doors is a remote controlled, electric motor powered, lift up cabinet door which hides a flat screen TV, used while the family is cooking. To the right of the walk-in pantry is cold food storage. The Thermador, 30-inch Freedom Collection refrigerator and 24-inch built-in freezer column with internal ice maker are covered with matching cabinetry fronts. An open display space was designed above the units, creating an aesthetically beautiful wall. To the right of the refrigerator & freezer columns is a tall cabinet designed for the built-in Thermador steam and convection oven. The convention steam oven is a relatively new technology for homes, but its versatility and food quality is amazing. To the right of this is a pull-out appliance pantry which provides easy access and storage for a stand mixer, blender, and any other appliance you do not want to clutter the counter. The most visible wall of the kitchen features the 36-inch Thermador Professional Series Harmony Gas Range with Griddle. Between the range and custom designed wood hood, a framed mosaic tile accent in the backsplash, creates a focal point. To clear the air, the Professional Series Thermador 42-inch ventilation insert provides excellent exhaust capabilities, as well as providing multi-level, vivid LED lights for beautiful illumination. The wall cabinetry symmetrically flanks the custom hood, utilizing deeper wall cabinetry on each end, allowing for storage of oversized dishware. The base cabinetry on this wall is made up of drawers, except for the corner, which is a Kesseböhmer LeMans II. This specially designed shelf system allows ease of access in underutilized blind corners. The dual action articulation system with soft close mechanism ensures a smooth open and close. Rounding the corner to the outside wall, the base cabinetry was built to a narrower depth, providing additional space for the island, as well as easier access to the new larger pass-thru window which serves the screen porch. The client selected Black Vermont granite countertops with an ogee edge to contrast the Linen White painted cabinetry. The door to the screen porch was replaced with a Marvin Exterior Door with a raised panel at the bottom of the 3⁄4 glass door. Marvin Windows replaced the other windows in the space increasing the energy efficiency and value of the home. To establish the breakfast nook, a bench with drawers and an upholstered seat was built into the bay area of the room. Custom bookshelves were built with open shelves, cabinet doors, and drawers on either side of the fireplace. A new stone hearth and fireplace surround were installed. Above the existing mantel we built a recessed space for the flat screen television hiding all wiring inside the walls for a completely clean look. The space that was once a desk was transformed into a bar area. The glass shelves and glass cabinet front liquor cabinet stand out. But this bar area has hidden secrets. Tucked beneath the black granite is a Thermador under-counter double drawer refrigerator with matching wood front panels. They blend in perfectly with the cabinets. A wireless printer is easily accessed on a slide out drawer. Plus, what looks like merely wooden panels on the wall are concealing recessed storage for more bottles and glasses! Overhead recessed lighting and speaker system provide illumination and entertainment through the entire space. This luxury home had original, solid oak flooring through most of the first floor which the homeowner obviously wanted to keep but were in desperate need of repair and refinishing. Our master craftsmen wove in new wood flooring to match the old where needed, particularly where walls had been changed and where the floor was damaged. We sanded the floors, smoothing away years of wear and tear. The entire wood floor was then uniformly stained, making it impossible to differentiate where any repairs were made. The functionality of this spacious kitchen is a far cry from its humble beginnings as a lackluster 9 x 12 foot stretch. The exterior wall was blown out to allow for a 10 ft addition. The daring slab of Calacatta Vagli marble with intrepid British racing green veining was the inspiration for the expansion. Spanish Revival pendants reclaimed from a local restaurant, long forgotten, are a pinnacle feature over the island. Reclaimed wood drawers, juxtaposed with custom glass cupboards add gobs of storage. Cabinets are painted the same luxe green hue and the warmth of butcher block counters create a hard working bar area begging for character-worn use. The perimeter of the kitchen features soapstone counters and that nicely balance the whisper of mushroom-colored custom cabinets. Hand-made 4x4 zellige tiles, hung in a running bond pattern, pay sweet homage to the 1950’s era of the home. A large window flanked by antique brass sconces adds bonus natural light over the sink. Textural, centuries-old barn wood surrounding the range hood adds a cozy surprise element. Matte white appliances with brushed bronze and copper hardware tie in the mixed metals throughout the kitchen helping meld the overall dramatic design.

This large kitchen was desperately needing a refresh. It was far to traditional for the homeowners taste. Additionally, there was no direct path to the dining room as you needed to enter through a butlers pantry. I opened up two doorways into the kitchen from the dining room, which allowed natural light to flow in. The former butlers pantry was then sealed up and became part of the formerly to small pantry. The homeowners now have a 13' long walk through pantry, accessible from both the new bar area and the kitchen.

The client requested a kitchen that would not only provide a great space to cook and enjoy family meals but one that would fit in with her unique design sense. An avid collector of contemporary art, she wanted something unexpected in her 100-year-old home in both color and finishes but still providing a great layout with improved lighting, storage, and superior cooking abilities. The existing kitchen was in a closed off space trapped between the family room and the living. If you were in the kitchen, you were isolated from the rest of the house. Making the kitchen an integrated part of the home was a paramount request. Step one, remove the wall separating the kitchen from the other rooms in the home which allowed the new kitchen to become an integrated space instead of an isolation room for the cook. Next, we relocated the pantry access which was in the family room to the kitchen integrating a poorly used recess which had become a catch all area which did not provide any usable space for storage or working area. To add valuable function in the kitchen we began by capturing unused "cubbies", adding a walk-in pantry from the kitchen, increasing the storage lost to un-needed drop ceilings and bring light and design to the space with a new large awning window, improved lighting, and combining interesting finishes and colors to reflect the artistic attitude of the client. A bathroom located above the kitchen had been leaking into the plaster ceiling for several years. That along with knob and tube wiring, rotted beams and a brick wall from the back of the fireplace in the adjacent living room all needed to be brought to code. The walls, ceiling and floors in this 100+ year old home were completely out of level and the room’s foot print could not be increased. The choice of a Sub-Zero wolf product is a standard in my kitchen designs. The quality of the product, its manufacturing and commitment to food preservation is the reason I specify Sub Zero Wolf. For the cook top, the integrated line of the contemporary cooktop and the signature red knobs against the navy blue of the cabinets added to the design vibe of the kitchen. The cooking performance and the large continuous grate on the cooktop makes it an obvious choice for a cook looking for a great cook top with professional results in a more streamlined profile. We selected a Sharp microwave drawer for the island, an XO wine refrigerator, Bosch dishwasher and Kitchen Aid double convection wall ovens to round out the appliance package. A recess created by the fireplace was outfitted with a cabinet which now holds small appliances within easy reach of my very petite client. Natural maple accents were used inside all the wall cabinets and repeated on the front of the hood and for the sliding door appliance cabinet and the floating shelves. This allows a brighter interior for the painted cabinets instead of the traditional same interior as exterior finish choice. The was an amazing transformation from the old to the new. The final touches are the honey bronze hardware from Top Knobs, Mitzi pendants from Hudson Valley Lighting group, a fabulous faucet from Brizo. To eliminate the old freestanding bottled water cooler, we specified a matching water filter faucet.

This mid-century modern was a full restoration back to this home's former glory. The vertical grain fir ceilings were reclaimed, refinished, and reinstalled. The floors were a special epoxy blend to imitate terrazzo floors that were so popular during this period. The quartz countertops waterfall on both ends and the handmade tile accents the backsplash. This handmade custom designed kitchen was created for an historic restoration project in Northern NJ. Handmade white cabinetry is a bright and airy pallet for the home, while the Provence Blue Cornufe with matching custom hood adds a unique splash of color. While the large farm sink is great for cleaning up, the prep sink in the island is handily located right next to the end grain butcher block counter top for chopping. The island is anchored by a tray ceiling and two antique lanterns. A pot filler is located over the range for convenience.
