Balmain House 3
This project set in Leichhardt Council's Balmain Conservation area was set amongst heritage buildings which was one of our major obstacles in moving forward with the client's modern, contemporary brief. Working through these obstacles and the perplexities of the client's "wish list", we managed to squeeze a lot into a little on this inner west site. Taking a stand of environmental sustainability added to the challenges and excitement of this project where seeing the end result and receiving positive feedback from the occupants with respect to the buildings performance throughout the last few seasons has been extremely rewarding. One of the greatest compliments the client gave us when this building was finished was that when they were trying to plan a holiday they couldn't find anywhere nearly as good as their own house so they decided to spend some quality time at home.
