We're looking to build something similar to your stone/tile encased hot tub. Do you have the ability to access all four external hot tub sides if something needs to be services on the tub?
If you have this look in mind you'll have to build the hot tub with access in mind. When people use decking in a sunken installation, we recommend designing the wood around the equipment compartment to be easily removable. For stone/cement/tile, you’re looking at a much trickier situation unless your architect designs with it in mind.
In short, no you won’t have access without lifting the spa out of the ground unless you’ve designed around it that way.
We have seen some lovely installations where two sides were left open, but stone was used on the other two sides to create a similar look...there are also some great designs out there that have incorporated custom built stairs, planters and even bartops to create this look but still allow for access to the equipment compartment.
