Why did you not make the hot tub flush w/ the floor?

I'm installing a hot tub with a deck. However, I was thinking of putting the hot tub level w/ the deck floor. The hot tub seller said it was easier to get in and out of if you have it 1/2 way above the deck floor or at least 1 foot above ground level. Any advice?

This homeowner wanted a very modern installation on their new hot tub and by sitting the tub off to the side, they did not lose any available deck space. In this scenario, they opted to not install rails around the hot tub deck, rather using the natural resting position of the cover lifter to give privacy from the neighbors and create a safety barrier. The illusion actually makes this hot tub look like it's hovering over the landscaped yard. Dropping this spa into the deck would have obstructed the beautiful views of the backyard and a rail would have been an eyesore. Not to mention that dropping a spa into a deck is a service nightmare and would be more costly for the homeowner in the long run.

Definitely agree with the last sentence. Clients do report it being harder to enter/exit a spa that has been installed flush with the deck. As in the picture above, clients report it is easier to use the spa steps, rest your bottom on the spa side, and swing your legs over the spa side and into the spa rather than trying to enter the spa from a standing position.

    Congrats on your new spa!
